25th April, ANZAC Day. To all my fellow Australians and Kiwi Brothers across the ditch this day needs no explanation, this is for Australians a very special day and I think our second if not our main national day. Please join me today by bending an elbow and raising a glass in honour to all those servicemen and women past and present who gave so much and more for both our countries.................LEST WE FORGET.
Wayne.

I certainly downed a couple of rums in honour of the ANZAC's before dawn this morning. :salute:: It was a crisp clear dawn service this morning with a great turn out, of young and old.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

I'm back home too, after parading down St George's Terrace in Perth this morning..

Huge numbers parading and watching the olds and bolds, as well as the currents serving members of the forces commemorating the 99th Anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli in11915

Lest We Forget.

Nice pic Obee, if my eyes don't deceive me that's a black beret on your head. I'm not too good with military insignia at times, but were you in the artillery by chance? Apologies in advance if I'm way off base with this. :salute::

Dark blue beret with an artillery badge, so almost right!

If I'd posted another image it would have showed the banner, but you couldn't see me .....

Yes I was a gunner ... so always a gunner !

Ubique

John

Thanks John, always had a soft spot for the artillery. Had a great uncle who was a gunner on a 25 pounder in the desert during WW2. He unfortunately was badly wounded by shrapnel, but thankfully survived and eventually got sent home to NZ. A gentle man that never spoke much about the war.

Thanks for posting the pic, it was a nice reminder.......and here's to you too mate.:salute::

Cheers Toddy
