The black and white photo was sent into us by Wayne Gloede, thanks for the great shot Wayne.

In the next month we should see the release of our Panzer 3 M variant in a 2 tone colour scheme. The Panzer 3 was used in just about every theatre during WW2 and although replaced by its bigger stablemate the Panzer 4, some units still utilised the Panzer 3 in Normandy and even during the final battle for Berlin in 1945.

That's it for now, thank you for all your fantastic support so far in 2021, next month should see the release of some top ups for the Boer war series, 2 more figures from the Japanese surrender 1945 plus other goodies.

Its adieu now from the Team @ Gunn

Due to our photographers being closed it was difficult to set up a jungle type diorama showing the round base variant of the Japanese surrender figures. As you can see they look just as good as the USS Missouri rectangle base variant and the advantage of these sets are that they can be combined with the previous figures released from our first surrender sets.

RS078A: Lt General Suichi Miyakazi (round base)

Miyazaki was commissioned in 1916 and served in instructional posts for much of the interwar period. He was an instructor at the War College and had just been promoted to major general when war broke out in the Pacific. He became chief of staff of 17 Army at Rabaul in October 1942. He saw action at Guadalcanal and Bougainville before being recalled to Tokyo in May 1943.

Miyazaki served in staff positions for the remainder of the war. He was persuaded by Yamashita that Tokyo did not understand the situation in the Philippines, and worked against further interference by Imperial General Headquarters with Yamashita's operations. Miyazaki later advocated the position that Japan, rather than Okinawa, would be the decisive battlefield of the war. In line with this view, he blocked the reinforcement of Okinawa by the 84th Division in January 1945.

Miyakazi is picture middle row to the far right during the surrender ceremony.

RS077A: Mamoru Shigemitsu

Mamoru Shigemitsu was a Japanese diplomat and politician in the Empire of Japan, who served as the Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs at the end of World War II and later, as the Deputy Prime Minister of Japan.

Shigemitsu was highly critical of the foreign policies of Yōsuke Matsuoka, especially the Tripartite Pact, which he warned would further strengthen anti-Japanese sentiment in the United States. Shigemitsu spent two weeks in Washington DC, on the way back conferring with Ambassador Kichisaburō Nomura to try unsuccessfully to arrange for direct face-to-face negotiations between Prime Minister Fumimaro Konoe and US President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Shigemitsu's many attempts to stave off World War II angered the militarists in Tokyo and only two days after the attack on Pearl Harbour, Shigemitsu was sidelined with an appointment as ambassador to the Japanese-sponsored Reorganized National Government of China. In China, Shigemitsu argued that the success of the proposed Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere depended on the equal treatment of China and other Asian nations with Japan.

On April 20 1943, in a move that was viewed as a sign that Japan might be preparing for a collapse of the Axis Powers, Japanese Prime Minister Hideki Tōjō replaced Foreign Minister Masayuki Tani with Shigemitsu, who had been steadfast in his opposition to the militarists. He was thus foreign minister during the Greater East Asia Conference. The American press often referred to him in headlines as "Shiggy".

From July 22, 1944, to April 7, 1945, he served simultaneously as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Greater East Asia in the Koiso administration. He again held that post briefly in August 1945 in the Higashikuni administration.

Shigemitsu as civilian plenipotentiary, along with General Yoshijirō Umezu, signed the Japanese Instrument of Surrender on September 2nd 1945.

RS077B:
Katsuo Okazaki

Okazaki was born on 10 July 1897 in Kanagawa, Japan. He was the 10th son of Yasunosuke Okazaki. He studied law at the University of Tokyo and then joined the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On 2 September 1945 Okazaki was present as part of the Japanese delegation on board USS Missouri for the signing of the treaty of surrender in 1945. We have him depicted here carrying his briefcase as he did on that eventful day.

ACC PACK 049A Brummbar

The Sturmpanzer (also known as Sturmpanzer 43 or Sd.Kfz. 166) was a German armoured infantry support gun based on the Panzer IV chassis used in the Second World War. It was used at the Battles of Kursk, Anzio, Normandy and was deployed in the Warsaw uprising. It was known by the nickname Brummbär, German soldiers nicknamed it the “Stupa“, a contraction of the term Sturmpanzer. Just over 300 vehicles were built and they were assigned to four independent battalions.

The Sturmpanzer used a Panzer IV chassis with the upper hull and turret replaced by a new casemate-style armoured superstructure housing a new gun, the 15-centimetre (5.9 in) Sturmhaubitze (StuH) 43 L/12 developed by Skoda. It fired the same shells as the 15 cm sIG 33 heavy infantry gun. Thirty-eight rounds, with separate propellant cartridges could be carried internally.

Our tank comes in a European three tone camouflage paint scheme and this particular A version of the Brummbar has the tactical number '540' on the side. The commander figure with binoculars is the standard figure for all variants of our Brummbar.

The side skirts were quite a difficult task for our factory and each pair of retaining loops had to be individually soldered to each and every side skirt. For those of you doing the math that is 1200 very tricky soldering jobs!
Every model comes with a total of 4 side skirts which can be hung in a variety of ways to create an individual look should you decide to buy 2 or 3 Brummbars. As you can see from the picture below the Panzer 4 commander figure will also fit in the Brummbar.

The A variant has the tactical number '540' on the sides.
B variant with number '36' on the side.
C variant no decals applied but a variety are supplied within the box.

An ACC PACK tank commanders set will be out later in the year to add even more variety to these vehicles.

Priced at $199/£179 with 50 available of this version whilst stocks last.

Loving all the pieces, esp. the new Brummbar.

On a side note, I always like how TGM adds just a couple accessories to their photographs like those pictured in the Japanese Surrender. Most effective!

It is indeed a fine looking model, with really crisp detail. In particular I like being able to see the precise definition of the tracks, and the figure looks really good. When TG makes a tank commander figure, it always seems to be a new sculpt, as opposed to a repaint of a figure previously released. These details are noticed and appreciated. The prices are always fair too.

Love the look of the Panzer III. I’ll definitely be adding that one. I’m going to pre order the loading crew and Brumbar.

Superb stuff TG.

The Brummbar and Panzer III look great! Got my order for the Brummbar and loader crew placed... I’m very tempted to get the upcoming Panzer III... It looks more refined than the Eagle Designs and TCS Panzer IIIs currently available, so I’m game 😎
