Dear All
Welcome to Aprils figure releases with quite a varied release and hopefully something for everybody. Starting off in historical sequence we take a look at the Roman Empire which has been a very popular series so far and long may it continue:
ROM004 Repel Cavalry! The order to repel cavalry by Roman officers brought about a defensive formation, in which the front rank formed a kneeling tight wall of shields with their pila protruding to form a line of spearheads. Undoubtedly it would be very hard to force a horse to break into such a formation. The most likely occurrence would be that the cavalry would come to a halt of its own accord ahead of the spearheads. It was at that moment that horse and rider would be at their most vulnerable against the rear rank stood behind the first line of infantry, who would then hurl their spears at them. Given the short distance and the training legionaries received, it is likely such halted cavalry, frantically trying to turn their horses around to retreat, whilst colliding with horses following in the charge, would prove very easy prey.
If one further considers the possibility of archers being present, the effect on a cavalry formation could indeed be devastating. For those of you wondering, there are indeed plans to make a high quality Celtic war chariot to run up against our Romans later on in the series. ROM004 comes as a 2 man boxed figure set and is priced at $95/£75 per set which is a small reduction if you were to buy the 2 figures separately. The Classic Romans with the red shield are unlimited until demand is deemed no longer viable, our 30th Legion black shield figures are once again limited to 100 in number. For those of you wishing to buy multiples of 5 or more of these sets we do offer the facility to pay over 3 months, if this is of interest please email me at your earliest convenience.
NAPS 41/42/43/44 B versions 'The Kings German Legion' features a more muddied version of our previous A version release, which has nearly sold out with only a handful of sets left. These 4 charging figures will give you more flexibility should you wish to add to your Napoleonic diorama. As these are a B version we have only made 75 of each of these figures, all are priced at $41/£32 so grab them whilst you can.
Moving onto WW2 we have 3 more Allied figures for our RS series which feature the last of our jungle patrol figures, in order that you can complete your diorama. RS036 comprises a soldier looking up scanning the sky for a Dakota air drop perhaps? RS037 takes a drink of water whilst RS038 kneels down perhaps taking a breather from the gruelling heat and humidity, but still scans the jungle for hostile enemy movement. RS038 comes as an A and a B version with A version wearing bush hat and B version wearing tin lad. All these figures are $41/£32 and limited to 100 of each version.
RS041 An all new Japanese sentry figure this time armed with a type 100 submachine gun. Japan was a late entry to the submachine gun market and only manufactured one such machine gun during WW2. Manufactured by Nambu to accommodate their 8mm round, the design was based on the 1918 Bergmann machine gun. The A version comes with soft cap and the B version comes with a tin lid helmet, both figures priced at $41/£32 and limited to 100 in number.
FJ032 comprises a sniper in a somewhat unique pose for us in that he is firing down from a building, a request we have had from several collectors. A very flexible figure that can be used in any number of scenarios. Priced at $41/£32 and limited to 100 of each 'Normandy' or 'Winter' version.
FJ029 is another Paratrooper but this time a stern looking Military Policeman with hands on hips. A guard house and barrier set are also due to follow soon which I think this figure will look great with. This figure comes in 3 versions, Normandy, Winter and Desert and is priced at $41/£32 per figure.
SS050 Grenadier will make a great addition to our recently released Breakfast Club part 3. This new figure set comprises a Grenadier drinking a cup of coffee with Panzerfaust slung over his shoulder chatting to his colleagues who are cooking up something to eat. Comes as an A 'Normandy' version or a B 'Winter' version. Priced at $41/£32 and limited to 100 of each figure.
SS058 features a more conventional kneeling Grenadier sniper in camouflage smock as he takes aim at an Allied soldier. Priced at $41/£32 and limited to 100 of each version.
SS059 'The Spotter' records the fall of shot for our sniper or can be used with an MG or mortar set, both due out later this year. Priced at $41/£32 and limited to 100 of each version.
All the above figures are now in stock except the Romans which we are expecting to be available around the middle of the month. That's all our news for now folks I hope you enjoyed what was on offer, Some big exotic warbirds will be on offer later this month including a Junkers 88 and an Aichi Val for all you Pearl Harbour fans.
For those of you waiting for the new Freikorps figures please note pictures will follow later this month in an interim newsletter. These figures were delayed due to a fault with the flag bearers decals but hopefully will be with us next month.
Best wishes
