Are britains the worse ever (1 Viewer)

Most have us have low security settings here.
What is odd is that some-one got on to Pieper's account who knew about toy soldiers. If my neighbour got on here he would not know the first thing about Trophy, WB, FL, K and C polystone scale etc.
That is what does not make sense.

Maybe it's Piper's wife or girlfriend trying to get him kicked off the Forum and stop collecting using his computer? Some people stay permanently signed in so they don't enter the password each time they go on the Forum - they can just go directly to the forum and are already signed on. Smells like an inside job to me?

Well Dr. Jekell - I see Mr. Hyde has been using the computer again !

Mr. Hyde - say youre sorry : arrrrrrrrrrrrahhha ;)

Perhaps but IF one had the inclination, it wouldn't take much time reviewing posts to discover enough to make a credible post. Remember, you must first "eliminate the impossible, whatever remains--however improbable--must be the truth.”;):D

In this case though the probable is rather inviting.

Guys
Are we now saying that this thread is completely bogus? If so why is it still here on the Britain's board which I personally believe to be wholly unjustified and secondly the original title hardly qualifies it for the topic of high-jacked IP address's?

Very true Bob. I was just following along and before high-jack announcement I was about ready to note my own contradictory experience. Since the thread originator claims it was not his; perhaps it should be simply shredded.:) Perhaps someone should pass that on to the powers that be.;)

THIS IS NOT MY THREAD, I HAVE JUST LOGGED ON TO FIND THIS THREAD, I THINK I HAVE A SECURITY ISSUE AND SOMEONE IS PUTTING THREADS ON IN MY NAME. THERE WAS TWO OTHER THREADS ON ABOUT K & C WHICH WERE NOT MINE.

THIS IS MY PROBLEM AND BEEN CAUSED BY ME [through using wireless system which has been accessed by someone else in my building] AND IS NO WAY A PROBLEM WITH THE FORUM. THEREFORE i WILL BE CLOSING DOWN MY ACCOUNT.

This is the reason we are having this discussion.

I am not making a judgment about anyone here, but I have to agree with this statement; only an avid buyer of WB would have any idea what their distribution schedule is or their challenges in making their deadlines. Certainly the weirdest case of identiy theft I have heard of. I know if I were going to steal someone's identity, the first thing I would do is jump on their toy soldier forum and start making contentious statements about popular brands. Weird...and to be honest not a whole lot of damage done in this thread...to either party. So? It generated some lively discussion...time to just move on.

Whoever it is who hijacked Pieper's acc also appears to have it in for K&C UK,this I find bizzare as they quite simply offer some of the best service out there?.:confused:

I thought all he did there was question the price difference relative to US pricing. That wouldn't seem to be very threatening. Of course he didn't say which two K&C threads were bogus.

It is more likely that a fellow forum member logged on a Pieper. So if Rob suddenly posted a thread attacking K and C then we would know that it was an inside the forum job.

I think criticism of K&C UJ often comes from US buyers who do not understand high VAT charges (built into the listed K&C UK prices) and when comparing to the prices they pay in the US, cannot reconcile them. I think this has created a common misconception about the company, and they have taken some pretty unjustified criticism for it. Truth is...for US buyers, unless you are looking for something that only K&C UK has in stock, it just makes sense to buy from a US distributor.

Here is a simple example: K&C NA129 - Coldstream Guard standing to repel.

From K&C UK 22.95 GBP including VAT (then add international postage - on just one figure 20% of the price - so add 4.95 GBP (in fairness, over 150 GBP, postage is free.)

Still we are now up to 27.90 GBP = $43.76 USD

That same figure offered from a certain US merchant that I will not name (but sound like "Donkey Mepot") that offers free shipping on even single figures: $25 USD

So...$43.76 or $25.00?

I don't fault K&C UK for this. They can't control VAT imposed (what is it now 17%) or outrageous international postage, and I am sure that most of their business is done within the UK for this reason (that doesn't mean I have not purchaed from them from time to time when searching for a hard to find item, and their service has, indeed, been excellent.

Similarly, international postage rates make purchasing metal figures either through Ebay or other distributers abroad cost prohibitive. Just a fact.

Anyway, didn't, mean to diverge so far on this thread.

Hi All,
We are working with Peiper007 to sort this out. We have given him instructions on re-securing his account if indeed it has been compromised. Also, if it has been compromised it has not been done so by any other forum member according to the information we have at our disposal. We have asked Peiper007 to flag which threads and posts he does not claim ownership of and we will sort them out altogether once we receive that information from him.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind all members that you are responsible for keeping your own user information secure. While one does not expect this to usually be an issue on a hobby forum such as this, apparently it can be.

Regards,

Peiper007 sure would secure your other information on your pc/ laptop if those pesky neighbours are wanting to get into a toy soldier forum shheesh these guys will stop at nothing and stoop so low!! good luck hope you find them and report them............. will be easy as all sites have a track of your IP address to your computer / house so your neighbours will flag up on your account!!

And not only your forum user info--if you use a wireless network, you should secure it. Check with your Internet service provider.

Prost!
