I think criticism of K&C UJ often comes from US buyers who do not understand high VAT charges (built into the listed K&C UK prices) and when comparing to the prices they pay in the US, cannot reconcile them. I think this has created a common misconception about the company, and they have taken some pretty unjustified criticism for it. Truth is...for US buyers, unless you are looking for something that only K&C UK has in stock, it just makes sense to buy from a US distributor.
Here is a simple example: K&C NA129 - Coldstream Guard standing to repel.
From K&C UK 22.95 GBP including VAT (then add international postage - on just one figure 20% of the price - so add 4.95 GBP (in fairness, over 150 GBP, postage is free.)
Still we are now up to 27.90 GBP = $43.76 USD
That same figure offered from a certain US merchant that I will not name (but sound like "Donkey Mepot") that offers free shipping on even single figures: $25 USD
So...$43.76 or $25.00?
I don't fault K&C UK for this. They can't control VAT imposed (what is it now 17%) or outrageous international postage, and I am sure that most of their business is done within the UK for this reason (that doesn't mean I have not purchaed from them from time to time when searching for a hard to find item, and their service has, indeed, been excellent.
Similarly, international postage rates make purchasing metal figures either through Ebay or other distributers abroad cost prohibitive. Just a fact.
Anyway, didn't, mean to diverge so far on this thread.
