Arhem: A futile endeavour? (1 Viewer)

This thread for those who said its unnecessary is actually necessary considering all the rubbish that has been placed into these threads over the days and, as we peruse through this we see the lets say the forum buzz word ''usual suspects'' doing it again.

Now, let me respond to the ''give it a rest'' I can afford these figures if I wish to buy them there is little in this hobby that I cannot afford should I wish to buy it.

Obviously lost on some is the fact that this IMHO is not a step above and warrants P label. This was also added as its going to be ran out with frequency the comparison pictures from old MH of 07 and these new figures which, will not aid anything apart from those who wish to propose they are worth the extra expense because they are better than the original old releases.

Pure and simple and as for the bottom of the world not complaining lets see how many hand claps and applause happens when the ALH are rocketed into P series.

Time to give it a rest,if you can't afford them either work harder or collect something else.
They are toy soldiers,have fun in what you collect.
Down here at the bottom of the world,we don't complain,we just get on and do it.
By the way when we are deployed on active service,we work 24 hours a day.

I use an inner tube ,canoes are for the rich folk up on the hill "the P version of my vessel of choice".
Love your humor...Gee the "P" is getting trotted out a bit on this forum...cheers TomB

We are only the bottom of the world if you hold the map in a manner that reflects Eurocentric thinking. We could just as easily be described as the 'land upover'.{sm4}

I was hoping that a thread would stay on topic and not be hijacked by the same people. we often don't get what we wish for

I know - I was hoping for a laugh. I suspect I failed ... but no harm, no foul!{sm4}

The trouble at being at the bottom of the world is you get more ..rushes of blood to the brain......than they who live at the near top of the world who experience a rush's of blood to the feet..... This may explain why the Aussie'e and Kiwi's are a bit different from most people....bet the Eurocentic's did not think of that when trying to figure out our odd charactor .....forgot to mention the convicts and other european settlers ..but they became oaky doki once the blood left the feet .....history according to RolF.......cheers mate....TomB.PS...I forgot to mention "P"

TomB,

for those of us at the equator, if your argument holds true, the blood is probably somewhere in between. So, for the men here, there's no need for Viagra..

BTW, now that you mentioned, I now know where the convicts have gone to... They are all working at the Victoria Traffic Authority. They are fining everyone that is only 4 km/hr above the speed limit. That is to me daylight robbery. They gave me two "Xmas presents" when I visited Melbourne in Dec last year. 4km is really absurd...

Chris

The question is are they actually better than the current well painted standard releases from K&C

Just a theory: I have no idea what the real Para camo jacket should look like, but I imagine there is a great deal of pride in it among collectors. Perhaps there was an underground campaign to improve the jacket which leads to my questions, what does the real one look like, and is the new paint job indeed better?

Sorry about your Welcome to Aussie......the cops here are quick on the draw with their Traffic infringement books... faster than the Lone Ranger.....that bit about the convicts was true...long ago a lot of the early coppers were ex-convicts.......I agree with "the blood is somewhere in between"...have been to Asia...but not to Hong Kong unfortunately....apart from our convict cops I hope you enjoyed the rest of your visit here,,,,though...Sydney would have been a better place to visit......cheers TomB

Ask and you shall receive. Here's a photograph of an authentic Denison smock, along with other appropriate accoutrements. The camouflage pattern on the original Denison smocks was hand-brushed on to the khaki colored base material. Apologies for the small image size but the forum limitations impose a limitation on file size. As a lowly Private 1st Class on this forum let me introduce my commanding officer LtCol Bentley-Smyth MC,(2 Para Bn), Arnhem circa 1944.

Jim,

What is your opinion on how K & C have done the smock?

Brad

Thank you. This is starting to make sense now. This appears to me as an attempt to reinvent the MG line to make it more appealing while increasing costs to compensate for the small collector base

Brad,
Would prefer not to become embroiled as an art critic. Would recommend you compare my images of the real thing side-by-side with the new K&C Market Garden figures appearing in their dispatches, and elsewhere here on the forum. I can say that the pattern, shade, and chroma, of the colors shown in my images are as close to spot-on accurate as you are going to get, with the possible exception that the lighting is a bit dark. That having been said, and as I have discussed in my blog; http://arnhemjim.blogspot.com, going from 1:35 Scale (54mm) to 1:30 Scale (60mm), has afforded the military miniature/toy soldier industry a significantly enhanced and enlarged easel for the expression of their talents. In my personal judgement it is the single most significant advance in "toy soldiers" in decades. Hope this is of assistance.
