Arnham Series.... (1 Viewer)

Here us a shot of the Original Diorama piece Andy built for the Original Arnhem release back in 1995.

AN04 "The Gunners" shows up a lot on Ebay in the $300 range. ANo8 "The

Mortar Team" usually goes in the $200-$300 range.:)

The first 500 sets of AN04 & AN08 came with a certificate which is nice to

have if you can find one. The second time they were released they did not

come with a certificate.

Hi njja,

Do you have the set number for the original diorama piece built for the K&C Arnhem release back in 1995 ?

Is the diorama in your photograph a one piece assembly ?

I have not been able to find it on Bill Sager's website thusfar.

Thanks and Best Regards, Raymond.

Hi Raymond:

This diorama doesn't have a number, it was the last Diorama personally built

by Andy (Gordon, Andy's brother does them now) for the 1995 release of the

first Arnhem Series.

It is listed on Bill's website under Private Collections/Collections/John A there

are several nice photos of it. Also here under my albums.

It is constructed in 3 pieces, the base with the destroyed bridge, stairs and

river. The damaged SS Headquarters, and the bombed out church. I first saw

it in a photo several years ago, I really liked the layout and after a couple of

years was lucky enough to acquire it and now enjoy it daily!:)

Njja,
You're right, the pieces should be displayed. No fun otherwise. Seeing Panda's thread on Arnhem was inspiring. Great photos-definitely a labor of love. More releases next year? FIRST CLASS!

Hi njja,

Thanks very much for your most helpful reply.

Yes, I have just had a good look at JA's collection on Bill Sager's website.

There is even a black and white photograph of Andy sitting beside the original Arnhem diorama.

The picture says it all. You can see his determined look. It was indeed K&C's turning point.

I am glad you have one of these masterpieces to admire in your den.

Kind Regards, Raymond.:)

Thanks Raymond, its nice to be able to share it with other collectors. One

of the nice benefits of collecting, meeting other folks with similar interests!:)

Njja,

Always good to meet a fellow student of Arnhem. $200-$300? A bit steep but

I would take the plunge. Went on eBay today looking for retired MG pieces

but no go. But did pick up the "Souvenir Hunters" and "Col. Vandervoot" from

the D-Day series. So far all my pieces remain in their boxes-have any advice

on dios?

If you haven't already looked at the gallery and the diorama section there are great dios set up and some master painters, building makers and diorama builders to see for inspiration.
