I know this is probably the wrong place to post this, but I thought more people would see it this way!!!:D
On April the 9th - 14th I might be going on a trip to Arnhem!!!:D

I was on a site called Bebo chatting to my friends when I noticed this advert saying something like D-Day, come and see it all!!!! I was interested so I clicked on it and it was a holiday site that took people on tours to loads of different places where battles were fought at!!!

I saw one saying 'Arnhem & The Rhine Crossings' so I clicked on it and another page came up telling you what the trip was, what you would be doing, and where you would be going!!!:D This tour included:
Travel by executive coach
4 nights’ accommodation with continental breakfast and 2 evening meals
Specialist Battlefields Guide
3 Battlefield visits:
Arnhem
Rees, Wesel and Hamminkeln
Remagen

I showed my mum the site and she thought it would be a good idea to go on this tour!!!:D

The prices are quite deer though, for 5 days in, April 9th - 14th, £339.00 per person!!!

I can't wait to go!!!!!!

Has anyone else ever been to Arnhem or other battle sights???

Scott,

That sounds like a real good package. Never been to Arnhem, although have spent a bit of time some years ago around the north of France - very interesting and sobering. I'm sure you'll find this trip the same.

I was actually stuck deciding between Battle of the Bulge and Arnhem!!!!

Could you plese tell me what it was like when you come back!!! Remember to take pics!!!!:D:D:D:D:D

Please let me know if you or another member has any interest in visiting Belgium & all of the cities/villages pertaining to the Battle of the Bulge. The tourism board over there (Belgium) is excellent. Via their New York office they sent me an impressive packet pertaining to the battlefields & specifically visiting historical/military highlights from the Bulge. It will take me a day or two but I will pull out the information & obtain the eMail address/and or mailing address for the informational packet. I am in the process of planning a future trip there perhaps inclusive of an Arnhem visit! There is nothing like seeing the history first hand!

I have been with Richard to arnhem.
on 16 September 2006 there was the commemoration of the battle for
Arnham. in hotel Hartenstein (museum) I have see many veterans .
I have also made photograph of the accelerating British
parachutists in their jeeps.
I go now in April with five K&C verzamelaar's to Bastogne.

Harrie:D

I went this year for the first time, a little disappopinting for me as I maybe built it up too much, but did some of Hurtgen and much of the Ardennes as well in the same trip. I am sure that you will enjoy the museum Scott.

Not as well travelled as Rob but I have done the Crimean battlefields, much of the WW1 western front and Normandy as well. I agree with Rob, walking it is something special. The Bulge and Normandy were excellent for museums.

Beaufighter, If anyone is wanting to go in future a 'team outing' may be fun?;) Panda peekings, Treefrog trolls, Rob's roamings, Richard's recces......LOL:D

Can you put up on the forum the website and contact information for the Tourism Office when you find it? I think many of us would be interested.

Thanks, Ron

Scott, I posted a pic of a diorama from the museum under the diorama thread.

You could do a lot worse than take Major and Mrs Holts guide to Arnhem. It has some good info and tours to take, and all the museums..

I agree Rob, or Mr and Mrs Holts guide to anywhere else for that matter, it was excellent for Normandy too.
