Arnhem wargame with K&C in Antwerp Belgium (Tin Soldiers of Antwerp) (2 Viewers)

Hi Guys;

On November 5th we are playing "Chain of Command" rules with K&C figures.
Here some pics about the preparation of the terrain on the Arnhem Bridge and buildings "under construction".

Here more photos of the Arnhem Wargame.
By viewing my photos keep in mind that:
a) I'm not a pro
b) This is not a diorama: during the game terrain is removed several times and you will spot defaults in the background; sorry for that.

The game started with a tribute to all the brave citizens of Arnhem who were obliged to leave their homes immediately after hostilities started.
Those citizens were placed in a corner of our battlefield as memorial.

The Arnhem side of the bridge. Frost has occupied the buildings on the bridge. The building with the black roof is his HQ; the rest of second batt. is hidden in the ruins on the right.



View on the main road. First casualties on the bridge. Second batt. has hastily positioned some artillerie in defence. Big surprise of the game was the arrival of a German Kampfgruppe, attacking the back of the defence line!





A Panzerjäger appeared with remnants of the Luftwaffe Division and German paras.... Frost in big troubles....

Your humble servant will continue this wargame saga;



As already mentioned, a German Kampfgruppe was pushing from the rear to the bridge. But there was another danger, coming from the other side of the bridge. SS Hauptsturmführer Viktor Gräbner was returning from his recon mission to the bridge in Eindhoven. All was quiet there at that time and his was now with his Recon bat. heading to Arnhem. He was fond of his new toy; a captured Humber. His new girlfriend was waiting for him in Arnhem.



At the bridge the convoy was blocked. Gräbner ordered some pumas to go ahead and to clear the bridge... always troubles with the Dutch resistance...

The British paras were taken by surprise. (according to the game Frost had to dice on a d10 at least a seven; 3 was not enough: no radiocontact at all....) The machineguns were no match for the armoured vehicles. But 600 m further to the center an AT was lurking. Sergeant 0'Connor was not sleeping.



Not aware about the situation, Gräbner ordered the convoy of trucks and Hanomags to continue.



It was a massacre...

50% losses and a retreat...
