Don't know how many of you watched this but AV went up 2 nil in the last quarter of the match, including on a somewhat but not totally questionable penalty, and just when Man U look to be dead, they storm back and tie it up and we still have added time to play!

Match over! Aston Villa hung on for dear life. Entertaining match.

As long as Moan Utd win nothing this season I will be happy. Very surprised at the manner in which Villa firstly outplayed them and then capitulated. Still Villa will see it as a point gained whilst Moaners will see it as two dropped. Win Win situation.

Better than my favourite Liverpool, what a mess...:(.
Mitch, what's your favourite? I already know Brad's a «Gooner»...:D

Virato...

Newcastle who, are not doing as bad as everyone expected. Suppose its the same as last year everyone expected us to do a ''Leeds'' but, as I put a bet on that we would be promoted as champions pre season I made a very tidy sum from the bookies!!!!

Still say we will finish top ten this season and thats where my money is on. Pretty much think the top of the league will be as it is now come may. Liverpool have dropped to many points for a realistic shot at the title this season. Its just nice for me, to have everyones attention drawn away from our shambles which, looks to have been radically stabalised by Hughton, so we are just always expected to lose and are showing supposed ''experts'' they don't really know that much.

Manchester United claimed the first trophy of football season 2010/2011, beating Chelsea 3-1 at London's Wembley Stadium in the 88th annual FA Community Shield on Sunday 8th August 2010. :)

I know they got that but, Similarly with a lot of fans and clubs I don't class that really much as silver ware of importance and, nor does any of the man utd fans i know. If thats all they get then their fans will see it as a very poor season. I know same goes for the carling cup or worthless cup as it was called.

The only ones of significance in real terms to the clubs and fans are the PL, Champions league and FA cup and, should they win non of them then I will be a happy bunny.

Mitch, what don't you like about Utd?. :)

Rob...

Grew up with a brother who was mad on them and all the rest of the family were black & white have just never liked them and, its not one of these things because they have been succesful I just don't like them. more than any other team in the PL they believe that everything should go their way and from board to manager to team then pout and cry when things are not so.

I will support every English team when they are in Europe but, just cannot with them.

Perhaps its a bit tribal but most geordies don't like two teams one where talking about and the other are the Mackems. I know one cardio vascular consultant who will not travel to the stadium of S**te.
Mitch

They remind me of the Yankees. In fact, I think the two teams have or had some sort of alliance.

I can't even depend on Chelsea to let me have a nice sunday afternoon. I mean, they just did not seem interested today

Yo Rob, you know what English football fans are like, IE: it says it below Stadium of S**te. Well the team from the Stadium of S**te just stuffed Chelsea 3-0 at the Bridge. Thing is I am from Merseyside and when Everton & Liverpool play there is never any problems just good humoured banter. As for Man United people don't like them because they are the most successful team in England, give you an instance, before I moved over to Ireland the bother-in-laws came to visit in the UK from Ireland and of course I had to take them to Man United's ground one Sunday on the way I first took them to Anfield & Goodison both closed not a soul around, we got to Old Trafford man it was amazing, there must have been two hundred coaches parked up from all over Europe the ground was buzzing with tours, Man United are an Empire way above any other English club.
Bernard.

Cardigan...

What are english fans like then??? Quite a sweeping statement and, I never actually said anything about trouble at all but, should you believe its all well humoured banter between Liverpool and everton fans then you have not been around the city much as its as intense as spurs and arsenal and the mags and mackems to name a few. That does not mean that because the intensity and dislike is so high that trouble is a feature perhaps we are looking back to the days when hooliganism was rife but, its also rife in Scotland and wales so, perhaps a UK generalisation may be better than just an English one.

I have disliked Moan Utd since I was a kid and its got nothing to do with their success for me I just don't like the team. I am also not surprised at the amount of coaches as most of their fans are from elsewhere than Manchester lol

And, if the mackems are stupid enough to name their stadium first of Roker Park then its renamed ''Joker Park'' and then the stadium of light well, their just asking for it to be renamed as has been. and we stuffed them 5-1

Thanks for your views guys. Although I'm more a Cricket/Boxing fan I keep an eye on the football and it always amazes me how and why people dislike Utd so much, I always put it down to jealousy from other teams.

Big boxing fan and used to do a little but, at least a footy match lasts 90mins unlike some boxing matches for £14.95 lol.

:D

Apart from Ali who was truly brilliant and his fights with Frazier and foreman, my favourite era was Hagler/Hearns/Leonard/ Duran era, some great fights there. And Hagler knocking out Tommy Hearns in three rounds was a classic.

Harrison was pathetic last night. I've seen school dinner ladies throw more punches than that.

Rob

Rob..

Some classics there Ali was the best but, I must admit to liking Tyson and nigel Benn went to see the dark destroyer a few times and he was awesome. I agree that Harrison was pathetic I thought he would lose but, not really in the manner he did. I should have him refund me for my box office payment.

Of course, I was forgetting Tyson!. Watched him as he swept up the ranking destroying all in his path, awesome power and such a shame he messed up his private life (theres a docu on him this coming week). I remember when he fought Larry Holmes, Holmes got his glove caught on the rope leaving his chin open to Tyson...big mistake! He also destroyed Michael Spinks in one round. Lennox Lewis gave him a pasting at the end but Iron Mike wasn't the fighter he once was.

Rob

Rob...

Do you have the time the docs on please? It was a shame his private life was his downfall I still remember the ear biting incident and felt quite sad that someone with his talent went that way.
