At last - some news! (1 Viewer)

It may be of interest for readers to learn that Cambridge Analytica is shutting down according to the BBC -- see link that follows:-http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-43983958
Perhaps we will see it reappear under a new name -- will be watching!
Like a number of the correspondents I also have not joined Facebook. Interestingly my adult children have moved away from Facebook.
As an end point my pocket money is burning a hole in my pocket as I await a number of the new Britains figures. Can I tempted to move out of my interest areas e.g. into WW2?

The people will pop up again in a while doing similar things and people will pay them to do it, they have no morality. Facebook, Twitter, etc are after your data, information and your soul. At least the tobacco companies only took peoples lungs, Zuckerberg and his ilk are just dealers in smoke and mirrors, like the wizard in the Wizard of Oz.

Yeah, Facebook makes money off my data. I'm just wondering who the idiots are
that pays for it. Phones do the same thing as well as smart televisions anything
with Wi-Fi. I should live in a deep cave so people like Zuckerberg can't make money
and I am left with complaining for entertainment and the cost of toy soldiers in the
United Kingdom.

Hate to break it you guys, but this type of forum is a dying a slow death. You have thousands of members here and how many actually participate? Despite there, flaws sites like Facebook, Instagram, and Snap Chat have taken over. If you think that these companies are the only ones selling your information your mistaken. The cable company, your bank, or any other place you gave a email address to to name a few. As the saying goes young minds, fresh ideas.

Think this applies as much to the military miniature hobby in general, whether readymade or models going the same way as stamp collecting.
Manufacturers FB pages are just that, not much of a forum. Though there maybe thousands of members here and probably on other forums there are even more people who never bother joining and just lurk perhaps because they don't want to increase their digital footprint.
Think young minds are playing computer games mostly !

I belong to a few, military history, toy collecting and customizing facebook pages that are excellent. The young minds are collecting comic book and video game based toys and action figures. And they are spending a ton of money. Even the most modest toy shows are drawing thousands of people.

While I appreciate your comments, it would be very naive of any internet user to think their data and personal information is secure.

The fact that so many users believe the rubbish that is fed to them by the likes of FB is concerning.

Anything you post online is there for the taking and there are plenty out there ready to use and abuse the internet to their advance.

Like fruit on a tree it's there for the taking given the opportunity.

I agree, these systems are not secure, cannot understand why they put everything on Facebook before their own website, they make a lot of sales on the website so they should put a teaser on Facebook etc and drive people through links to the website for all the information. could it be that Ken does not load up the website and has a separate company that does it who charge for every upload? The website makes me smile with amazement and despair, I check every now and then and no new soldiers but loads of prints and new stuff for Hudson and Allen [Ken's company] and now board games.......

The thread is titled news at last, but that is all we get and I do not think finally getting 2017 figure 4 months into 2018 is something to be excited about, when are the 2018 due?

Well, seeing that Ken made a trip to China to get things back on track, new figures arriving, a new building, a restock of a previous building and another factory building in the works is........ "At last-some news". For me it is good news and I am excited.

I built a 1/72 dionfor my young nephew and he and his friends spent tons of time with it. Now every year I give him a famous personality from FL with a letter I write about the person.

He is now really into it.

Agreed, it must be incredibly difficult running a TS business at the best of times and keeping your customers updated is a full time job in itself. Some companies are excellent at it and others not so. You can only 'dangle the carrot' at your clients for so long and then it just becomes a bad joke and does more harm than good.

Depending on where on the globe we are, we see / hear differing stories. Star Wars sure a big winner world wide, but out else I'm not so sure.
