Atlantic Wall Bunker (1 Viewer)

thanks for sharing the pix of the bunker looks great especially with the add on figures  will be getting one of these i think

I am rather intrigued by the figure on the right side in the top image.

He looks bearded and appears to be wearing a turban, best seen in the bottom image.

This figure looks right out of Randy's (Polar Bear's) "Life in the Raj" collection.

Can anyone please ID this figure?

He's a Sikh soldier from the Indian Free Legion apparently. Rob found a great photo of two Sikh infantrymen manning a machine gun on the Atlantic Wall.
He may post it again if he see this.

Hi Eazy,

Thanks very much for the tip. I have it figured out now.

Here are 2 pictures of the Free India Legion.

The top picture shows Field Marshall Rommel inspecting members of the FIL in France, 1944.

The bottom picture shows 2 soldiers of the FIL manning a machine gun on the Atlantic Wall
(this must be the one that you are referring to).

Cheers, Raymond.

:)

I was not going to buy this piece, because I could not get an answer to whether the lower gunports were hollowed out to place figures. I just presumed that it was solid. But today, when attending a local soldier show, George from Minuteman turned one over and sure enough, it is hollowed out with 3 usable slits and space enough for most kneeling figures to fit..So I bought one..Nice setup. Michael

The bunker can also be placed over a hollowed out area and an anti-tank gun will fit through the slit.

Great, I will transfer him to the Russian Front and substitute him with a German Machine Gunner :D

Not so fast Oz. the Indian machine gunner is only a half figure. And even as a half figure, if it wasn't for the sandbag which is attached to the MG, the MG would be in mid-air. This may not be an easy replacement.

I have a hacksaw and I'm not afraid to use it :D

I wanted to display the bunker with the LCA, but too compressed for my cabinet. So decided to have a mass of Canadians and British rushing the bunker - I need the opposition now..

It is a great item...

Ordered mine today. Not sure who will be storming it yet though. Will be brits or yanks.

Lenswerks-

That looks great. Would you mind identifying which sets you are using to defend the bunker?

Thanks!

The 8 figures on the ground are WS117, WS118 and WS122.

WS117 and WS118 are Normandy figures.
WS122 can be used for Arnhem, Normandy or Fall of Berlin.

The figures on top of bunker are those that came with the bunker and WS086 Bunker Denfenders.

In addition you could use WS123 or WS124 which can also be used for Arnhem, Normandy or Fall of Berlin.

Donnie
