Attacking Dog Green Beach (1 Viewer)

Chris,

This is phenomenal! You did a terrific job of setting this whole thing up. Very life like.

Thanks for sharing this.

Chris,
A bit late to the party but (as you know!) I have been busy. Ditto on all the comments made by the froggers so far.
Did you have a D-Day photo (or set of D-Day photos that you used as a reference. Maybe a favorite movie scene.
I can see, "The Longest Day" or "Saving Private Ryan" or "D-Day: Sixth of June" in all your arrangements.

I ask because it looks sooooooooo real! As has been mentioned the barbwire shot is top notch and the camera angle on these works perfectly.

Thank you Larry, much appreciated. To answer your question, no photos in particular other than seeing historical pictures of the beach defenses online. I think SPR and Longest Day (for the BG Cota shots) scenes had an impact for construction of the dio regarding the sea wall. And of course standing on the bluff overlooking Omaha Beach many yrs ago left a lasting impression.

There is a follow on post, D Plus 1, in the Diorama section.

Thanks again. Chris

Hi Chris,

Incredible dio you've created here. Looking at your pictures, I can't help but think what our troops must have really encountered when they stormed the beaches of Normandy. Scenes depicted in movies like Saving Private Ryan; although graphic, only showed a small portion of the carnage.

Really impressive. You've got a great collection of figures. {bravo}}

Thank you Rob, appreciate that. Chris

How many figures do you think you've used in this scene, Chris? Do you have this set up on a large table?

Rob, I'm out of town for the next few days and will give you a fig count when I return home. There are 7 Germans not counting the 2 Tamiya figs in the bunker. The overall dimensions of the base are 6' x 3'. Chris

No biggie Chris. I was just curious. It's an impressive dio. 6' x 3' is a pretty good size.
