track1.jpgtrack2.jpgtrack3.jpgtrack6.jpgtrack8.jpg This completes the Australian Vietnam M113 series. The mortar track has full interior and was a blast to make. The markings are totally made up but I did get the idea for the M60 machine gun mounted on top of the m577 from the terrific book "Mud & Dust". Thanks for viewing my conversions.

Love the command APC mate drove and commanded one ZERO BRAVO was our Callsign.
Any chance of a pic of them all together?
Well done look awesome

Mark mate,
Outstanding work cobber. As Wayne said Awesome stuff. However, check pages 142 and 143 of "Mud & Dust" for the correct vehicle callsigns. "Mud & Dust" is the best reference book for all artillery, armour, land rovers, trucks, engineering plant, etc used by the Aussie Army in NAM.

(1) M577 = 0A

(2) M125A1 = 81, 81A, 82 or 82A

Cheers Howard:salute::

group1.jpggroup2.jpggroup3.jpg Here is a group photo.. thanks for info on call-signs. Didn't see that section. I plan on remarking them once I find suitable decals.

Some great work......well done. This may be of some interest...…

Some awesome work by the boys at 6RAR Australian Army to get this Australian M113A1 APC (Armoured Personnel Carrier) #134200 from 2 Troop, 1 APC Squadron, fully restored to the markings and configuration of when it participated in the Battle of Long Tan on 18 August 1966.

This APC, Callsign 23A, is the APC in which Corporal Peter Clements (21 years old) was mortally wounded by enemy fire. A few of the APC's of 3 Troop were out of action so some APC's from 2 Troop went out with 3 Troop under the command of Lt Adrian Roberts.

Sadly, the APC's from 2 Troop did not have turrets or gunshields at the time and Cpl Clements was mortally wounded in the stomach when they engaged D445 Viet Cong Provincial Mobile Battalion on their way to Delta Company in the rubber plantation at Long Tan. D445 were moving to the rear of Delta Company to complete their encirclement of the Australians. Clements died nine days later on 27 August 1966. He was from Moora in Western Australia.

Thanks to Jimy Sharp and everyone at 6RAR for their hard and meticulous work bringing her back to her former glory!
Her new permanent home is with 6RAR and she will be paraded on 18 August 2016 during the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan commemoration services at Enoggera barracks in Brisbane, Queensland.

If I may ask, who is the gentleman on the picture?
Congrats on the deck of medals!
Cheers
Luiz
My endeavours to find out who the Digger is have failed.
I have to assume then that he has some strong past connection with the APC's at Long Tan at least.
The Medals alone would tell a story worth hearing.

I drive past Gallipoli Barracks , Enoggera in Brisbane, almost half a dozen times a day. Every now and then you see among the modern APC's and trucks etc a M113 parked in view. Looks like it has had some modifications over time I think......may interest.

The next generation APC's for the Army..
