AWI - The Second Assault (1 Viewer)

Thanks again; Jake, MD, 6th WI, Joe, and Konrad. I can't take the credit for editing out the bases. My good friend and fellow Wisconsinite Joe Baker (playsetaddict) did this for me. Someday I'm really going to have to learn how to do this.

Count me in, Mike. I also still need to learn that. I love your photos.

Thank you very much; Frank, Michael, Scott, Al, Joe, and Rod . . . The last photos of this series - will have to wait for the militia to arrive on the scene now . . .

THE SOUND OF MUSKETRY IS HEARD AND TWO GRENADIERS ARE HIT

ADHEREING TO THEIR TRAINING AND DISCIPLINE, THE REAR RANK FILLS IN THE GAPS LEFT BY THE WOUNDED. THEY STEP OVER AND AROUND THEIR FALLEN COMRADES AND CONTINUE FORWARD

Great shots, superb little story you have there. Look forward to seeing the militia soon also.

Mike, I'm really enjoying the pictures you are posting. The composition and photography are top notch.

Mike, if I may: what were your considerations for eliminating the gaps in the second rank which were indicating casualties? I thought that that was an intriguing idea.

It has always been my understanding that the rear ranks filled the gaps in the front rank left by casualties, thus maintaining the "front line". Thus, when a man went down in the front rank, the man directly behind him stepped up and took his place. Another way of doing this was always "dressing to the right". That is, filling the gap next to you by moving over to the next man on your right. By maintaining the integrity of the front line, in spite of casualties, allowed the unit to bear the greatest fire power or assualt line on the enemy.

Thank you, Mike.

It appears that you are now going with the "dressing to the right" concept.

I will experiment a bit with mine, but liked the idea of the gaps in the second rank.

Its hard to see in the third photo, but I did leave two gaps in the rear rank.
