The Decurion's woman and child greet the last patrol back just in time to feast and celebrate the Saturnalia.

Your new building fits perfectly into the fort. Good one Steve. Robin.

Cheers Robin :salute::
Yes it looks good I think and could fit other era's. Unfortunately John has no plans for further diorama buildings after the WSP Fur Trade Fort, so no further Roman Fort or other bits because of shipping fees making it too expensive to produce for collectors.
Looks like 3D prints or TM Custom builds etc being the future. Fortunately they have gotten to the stage where they can look quite convincing when painted up as much as Polystone can be now.

Nice work Steve on this scene.

Thanks Grey, most appreciated :salute::

Agree Steve, freight charges are killing the larger heavier pieces that were a possibility in the past. Even lightweight bulk can up the costs considerably. The 3d solution appears the way it may go in the future which could include painted versions as well for those that are less talented than you. Time will tell. Robin.

Nothing like a good Winter Solstice celebration and festival. Nicely done Steve.

Yeah robin, my modelling of a few bushes or Tamiya sandbags ruined walls etc may be ok, but when it comes to modelling actual buildings you need something that lloks ok. At least in Aus you have Last Post, but as already spoken about shipping up's the issue, so 3D comes rides in ! Yes I tend to paint my own since my budget for non- figure items tends to be quite small, but guys doing the4 3D like Paul can usually give you a painted quote as well as an unpainted one. I had a couple of things painted by him to start off with such as a Vietnamese hut and a Roman Watchtower and though yeah I can do this. Well kind of ! :tongue:

Yes the Romans had Saturnalia coincided with the Winter festival / Solstice.
If you've not heard of it you might like to read a little about the cult of Mithras.

Very much aware of Mithras. I am somewhat of a student of Astro Theology . . .

Mike, did you watch the Raised by Wolves Sci Fi series that featured followers of Mithras in the future?

No I didn't do not. Didn't realize the call next. Now that I do I will watch it. I have seen it listed on one of the streaming channels we have. Thanks Matt . . .

Thats awesome Steve. Who made the roadway? Gotta get that barrack building. You did a top job on it

I made the Roadway from a piece of foam board glued onto a piece of hardboard. I used a penknife to cut into the foam board the outlines of the stones. Curbstones just lengths of foam board again. Then painted grey all over. Easy !

Great job, i am going to copy you. Its nice to be able to make some things and have some specialty diorama items in a scene
