Chris, I believe BoB screwed up on the Albert Blithe portrayal also who I think was awarded a couple of silver stars and a bronze star along with the purple heart. The series claimed he died from his injuries in 1948 when he actually went on to serve in Korean War and passed away in 1967 while still in the service.

Thanks to your son for his service ..... you have every right to be very proud of him.

Many thanks Buster. Chris

Chris,

I agree with everyone that Buster said, especially about your son.

On Blythe, I think the producers took Ambrose at his word without verifying what actually happened.

There was also one small error in assuming that Liebgott was Jewish. Turns out he was Catholic. I think Ross McCall mentioned it in his episode.

Concerning Blithe, I read an article recently which explained Blithe's death in BOB---two members of Easy Company told the writers they attended Blithe's funeral. Obviously they were mistaken.

Colonel Edward Shames, a World War II veteran whose service was portrayed in the Emmy-winning HBO miniseries Band of Brothers, has died. He was 99. He was the last surviving member according to the news. He was a platoon leader in Easy Co. I don't remember the character. He was given a field commission June 13, 1944, just seven days after D Day.

I’ve been listening to this again and enjoying it.

On mistakes the show made I ran across an article on the mistakes the show made. Another was Norman Dyke. He was actually a competent officer, not the way he was portrayed.

In the book “Company of Heroes,” Gordon Blithe, Albert’s son, said he received emails of apology from Hanks and Spielberg.
