Barbarians on Netflix (1 Viewer)

Just read a review on a German newspaper. It is the retelling of the developments of the Battle of the Teutoburger Forrest. The ensuing battle ensured that the Germanic tribes/Germans retained their freedom from running water, stone buildings, bathrooms, Roman judicial systems etc. I am looking forward to it. It feels like yesterday that I spoke at the 2000th anniversary of the battle at kalkriese as one of the last survivors of the battle.

Have finished watching it. An interesting twist on what happened leading up to Teutonberg forest.

Although dubbed it is done well and a pretty big production.

If you like Romans v Barbarians then worth a look.

I think dubbed from Latin and German. And do that was intentional.

Us who understand both languages are rare and far in between.

After watching Vikings 'Barbarians' just did not cut it , 30 minutes in and the dubbing lost it for me...turned it off.

I love the Vikings but this was enjoyable also.

Would have to agree Wayne, I gave it a crack but my interest drifted off towards the end of the first episode.......

runnng water ; no need, there is plenty of water in Germany, no need for aqueduc
stone builing, too cold in winter; mixed earth with straw is better and easy to repair
bathrooms existed, in tubs you could use outside in summer, inside in winter and .. so many rivers
Judicial systems is the same
from one part ; guys in toga ( sort of woman dress ) or wearing mini-skorts saying you had to be killed in a circus eaten by lions
from the other : guys in fur and pants saying you had to be beheaded
And; both judging in good fade telling " With the Help of Gods " ( I think I have often heard that lately !! Oh yes in USA but without the s )

And 2000 years later they both weared black or brown uniforms destroying everything they looked at .
