Here's a first look at one of the new figures from Ron Barzso's upcoming playset (release slated for September).. Since he is going to preview 8 new British Grenadier and 8 new Colonial Minutemen poses at the Indy Toy Soldier Show in March he said I could post one of the photos in the forums...

I hope that there will be NO barrel bands on the "Brown Bess" musket as appears in the photo. A sling would be good as well as a taught sling would be correct and would strengthen the cast musket in this pose. Looking forward to more photos.

I like the look of this new line! Many earlier figures were a bit too lean for me but over the last few years Ron's figures have evolved to the point the work really well.

Not to be a drag but the figure above is 20 years in uniform fashion beyond Braddock. That said, I do use WW I Germans in blue a Prussians in 1870-71.
 
I hope we don't get caught up in the small details of figures and uniforms or equipment and instead enjoy what people put out. This is supposed to be for fun, and quibbling over all the details can take the joy out of things. It doesn't matter all that much if a guy is shooting with his left hand or right hand, or has four pockets instead of six, or is wearing a cotton-blend shirt when it should be linen. Relax and enjoy.

Weeeell....in a day when the "truth is out there" and British uniforms are a lot better known to anyone with the internet or a local library, it's not too much of an effort to make British figures a bit better than the old MARX Sons of Liberty playset figures. It not like Mr. Barzso will get hurt and go away with his fine figures if customers request the correct details on a well known and easily searchable subject. To dismiss the request for better detailed figures from a company that has made highly detailed figures is patronizing. Wouldn't it be great if Barzso figures or any figures could represent troops to the satisfaction of history buffs, students and "experts" who are not collectors and may see toy soldiers as trivial?

If folks are following my posts, there's no better advocate of "fun" and Toy Soldier enjoyment. Sheeesh!^&grin^&grin
 
To be honest, I don't think Scott was being facetious, there's guys on both ends of the spectrum here who are "rivet counters," and guys who really don't care about the small details, it's okay to be on either end :smile2:

We all have things we can overlook, and cannot. For example, I cannot get over the fact that Barzso's Braddock Grenadiers have bearskin mitres. BUT.....I like his early release rangers with the incorrect headgear better than I do the new ones. (I guess the movie Northwest Passage has something to do with it ^&grin) I'm sure there's guys on here who could dismantle the historical accuracy of those, but I could care less ;)

Scott has corrected some of my sculpts before, feedback can be a good thing :cool:
 
As long as the color of the figures is close , I will add them to my Braddock set.
 
Oh O.K.

I've been using AIP Egyptians, Boers, and Shirt Sleeve British with grafted Kepis as 1870-71 French Mobiles because they are blue. Nobody makes the Garde Mobile or plans to make the Garde Mobile and posts photos of the master sculpt.

NOW we're talking! Not bad! A useful figure thoughout the War of Independence.
 
Thanks for posting Jim, and thank Ron for letting you give us a preview, I can't wait to see them in colored resin :cool:
 
Hi,

Below are photos of Barzso's new Revolutionary War figures... These are plastic figures that I painted. They do not come painted.. but I think the paint really shows the details well. There may be small tweaks to the figures - but nothing like changing equipment or anything... I'll post the unpainted versions later - which will show the colors that these figures will be molded in.

Amazing looking figures and those paint jobs make me want to burn my old "Rev War" figures and start again!
