Baseball 2016 (2 Viewers)

O's beat Tampa 2-1 with what is about as deadly a pitching combination that exists in the majors at present. Tillman starts and wins his 13th with 7 innings of 1-run ball and then the best 8th inning man in the game, Brach, comes in to earn his 17th hold (with an ERA of 0.88) before turning it over to the best closer, Britton, who earned his 29th save and lowered his ERA to 0.68. Man, that is a deadly combination of pitchers. -- Al

I'm just glad to see the O's get some decent pitching done on the road for a change, I know they are playing the double A Rays at the moment and I'm taking it for what it is but the Orioles away record is now 20-22, now let's see what Bundy can do on Sunday...Sammy

Red Sox beat the MFY's again; Price, sweep the leg tomorrow night and finish off these chumps once and for all in 2016.

Here's hoping Cashman loses the four remaining strands of hair he has left and deals off Chapman, Miller and Beltran at the deadline and blows up the MFY's once and for all.

Nuke them from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.................

I love it. The Karate Kid AND Aliens alluded to in the same post. George, you're my hero.^&grin -- Al

MVP Murphy strikes again! Nats down to their last strike, trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the 9th when SuperMurph connects on a PH Hr to tie the game and send it to extra innings. What else can this guy do? Unbelievable. Don't know who will win but now we have a chance. -- Al

At least the Yanks do not tank entire seasons, as the RS are used to doing. My team ,even outmanned and outgunned, would never abuse the fan's trust by quitting playing as is the RS usual MO..most seasons. The problem with gloating too early is how much more retching is the choking action later. Give me your address and I will send you a vomit bag, free of charge. They are in my companys' catalogue under seasonal New England have to haves..Michael

Kee-ripes! 18 innings to lose 2-1. Nats only had 8 hits and 3 of those were wiped out in DP's. A disgusting offensive display, but excellent pitching by everyone involved. Next. -- Al

Well my boy Bundy only gave up 5 hits!!!:) but 3 of them were HRs , live to fight another day in his case, no injuries and he's in the rotation for this week again and hopefully can keep the ball in the yard, hate to say it George but..let's go Yanks!! ahhhhhh almost as bad as pulling for the steelers ^&grin...Sammy

Sorry Mike, this isn't the NBA or the NFL where tanking a season serves a purpose; for what purpose would the Red Sox or any team "tank" a season, to get first shot at some 17 year old kid who will either go to college and stiff you or flame out?

Makes no sense.

Speaking of barf bags, I was forced to listen to the MFY radio broadcast of the game last night coming through CT; good God, the stooge play by play man is about as brutal as it gets, then some old bag who sounds like she's completely out to lunch chimes in with ragtime comments.

That's the best the Yankees can do?

Wow.

Look at the young talent the sox have vs the walking corpses the MFY's trot out there every night; Boegarts, Betts, Bradley, Vazquez, Shaw, Swihart, Holt, with Bentiendi and the Futures All Stars MVP who hit a bomb that's still going, Moncada............the Red Sox are set at ever position for the next 10 years, so dine on that for awhile.

Good luck the rest of the way as you play to stay out of the cellar; you get points for that in case you didn't know, so keep up the mediocre work....................

Al:

It could have been worse. The Giants loss on Saturday night was one of the worst I have ever seen. They came back from down 5-0 to tie it at 5-5 to send it to extra innings. In the 10th Posey hit a home run to give the Giants a 6-5 lead. The Padres tied it up in the bottom of the 10th and then with the bases loaded the Giant's closer Casilla balked in the winning run by falling off of the mound. Ouch.

Fell off the mound, huh? Well, at least it's creative. I watched every inning of that 18 inning marathon. I really should know better as once the Nats go into OT, they mail the bats home and shut down the offense completely. They've done it several times in OT, including that fiasco in SF a few years ago.:wink2: -- Al

Now that I think about it you win on sheer volume alone. Watching 18 innings in a 2-1 loss during the middle of the regular season is simply impressive. That is true dedication.

And I remember that playoff fiasco well. That was probably the beginning of the end for Matt Williams.

It sure was. That decision haunted Williams for the rest of his time in DC. Every time he made a move that didn't work out, or failed to make a move that was needed, that playoff loss was brought up by the sportswriters and every Nats fan in the area. It never went away and marked the instant that faith in his decision making disappeared amongst the fan base, and probably ownership. -- Al

Every year, every club seems to have a hard-luck pitcher, the one who never gets run support, or the ball bounces the wrong way at the wrong time. This year for the O's, that pitcher is Gausman. He has pitched well enough to have won several games but he is saddled with a 1-7 record in 16 starts, 9 of which were quality starts. Tonight, he held the NYY to 2 runs over 6.2 innings and, because he is Gausman, lost 2-1. The NYY got to the 7th with the lead, so it was Betances, Miller, and Chapman and it was all she wrote. Just tough luck. -- Al

He should change his last name to Gascan....................look out everyone, the MFY's are on fire, winners of two in a row, here they come up along the outside rail to make this a four horse race to the wire in the AL East..............:rolleyes2:

Yep. No other division has 4 teams so close to the lead. It figures, but that is the AL East for you. -- Al

My O's seem to be a run out of gas sort of team right now, the last home game played by the O's was June 26th and being tommorow is the July 20th that is a long stretch for any team, also they are only averaging a little over 3 runs a game in the last 15 games where as before the break the offense was carrying this team, it's the tough stretches/slumps like this that can make a season or break a season for a ball club, let's hope some Natty bo's, and some crab cakes can bring this team back to life in a hurry...Sammy

Yeah, O's dragging a bit but they can't afford it with Cleveland coming in. O's have to find their mojo cause they could get buried in a hurry if they slump right now. They have a rather tough schedule, with such out-of-division teams like Texas, SF, Houston, and the Nats still coming up, not to mention the tons of games against Toronto, NYY, and Boston. No let up, in fact, as 49 of the last 70 games are against contending teams. Time to crank it up. -- Al

Red Sox beat the Giants tonight 4-0, went to the game with Miss Tiffany, Ortiz hit an absolute bomb, a three run shot.

Funny thing though; usually when a player hits a bomb, you hear a loud cracking sound, but tonight, to me it sounded like "MADDADICUS!!!"

Happy the Sox won, my favorite AL team, but sad the Giants lost, my favorite NL team..................

They are up against a very good Yankee rotation, Cy Evoldi, Sherman Klump, Christy Tanaka, Super Nova, and Michael Pinata, Hall of Famers in waiting..:rolleyes2:Michael

This starting rotation is one of the reasons that the NYY's are the story they are. 3 of them are flirting with ERAs around 5, yet the NYY's are in the race. They are piling up innings and, for the most part, getting to the 7th inning where the super relief takes over. They continue to find ways to hang around. Girardi is doing a good job. -- Al
