I am enjoying my coffee this morning and reading so much BASEBALL in the paper today - ahhhhhhhhh - BASEBALL IS FINALLY HERE ! :D

Tomorrow - I will be going to the FAN APPRECIATION DAY events at Nationals Park and watch the Baltimore Orioles play the Washington Nationals in the pre-season expo game.

Opening Day for the Nationals is April 13 they will play the Phillies !

All I can say is BASEBALL - AT LAST !

Play Ball !
:D

Yep, looking forward to it, I expect the Phils will be able to repeat their division title this year, looking forward to the season with the Nats, too.

And my buddies and I are reviving our fantasy league after two seasons off, Draft Day is also on Opening Day. I've got the fifth slot in the drafting order, so I'm planning my strategy now.

And there'll be beer, ribs, sauce, barbecue....

The beer garten is open then?

lol

Almost, I'm sweeping the maple litter up these days. But my buddy Chris is hosting the draft, he lives up in Tannersville, on the way to the Poconos. He has a big screen TV that we hook the computer up to, to read everyone's picks. The other guys are down in Georgia, in Columbia.

As Draft Day goes on, the messages get more and more garbled....

Looking forward to the NHL playoffs myself, but my leafs are not in them again :(

I had my Fanatsy Baseball Draft last week. Only a few days left until opening day.:D

GO White Sox!!!

I watched the first exhibition game at the new Yankee Stadium while I worked last night. It was strange, as over last the 35 years I had grown used to the dimensions of the old new Yankee Stadium, but it was a beautiful building. I can't wait to take my son to a game!:cool:

Today - Is my first day back in NATIONALS PARK !

We have an EXPO GAME with the Orioles - ahhhhhhh BASEBALL AGAIN :D :D

Look forward to some peanuts, hot dogs, cold beer and hopefully better pitching ! ;)

Good to have the season back ! :)

Great Game LAST NIGHT !

The Nationals WON ! 5 - 4 Got a little interesting in the end, oh do we need a closer bad !

Anyway - Had a couple of Cold Beers, Ben's Half Smoked - "all the way" and lots of peanuts :D

Great to be back at my second home - Let the season begin ! :)

Here we go again boys!!!!! I know I said this last year but THIS year it's gonna happen, the Orioles are gonna be in it to the end, we have solid young talent from last year, good hitting, pitching??? not that great, but we have 3 very talented prospects in triple A ball, and if we can hold our own until after the all-star break, those guys will be ready to move up to the show, we will not win the A.L. east, but I think this will be our best year in awhile, since we haven't many lately, let's go O-R-I-O-L-E-S!!!! need to start off tommorow by beating the 2009 world champ yankees (says the media) let's play 162 games before we give that nice big trophy to those dreaded yanks...Sammy

Loving it.

I am still p/o'd about Yankee Stadium tho. Don't think I'll ever get over it.

Those millions of dollars sure seem to be a waste of money today for the Yankees ha!!!!! I know the Yanks are gonna win thier share of games this year, and most likely be in a race with Boston all year, but never count a team out, this time last year we (Orioles) were losing to the Devilrays and I was like... WHAT????? so for us Oriole fans and all the talk how this series was gonna be batting and pitching practice for the "new Yankees" well it's along season, and it couldn't have started out any better!!! go O'S!!!!!!!!!!!

Any game that includes hotdogs (with tomato sauce of course) and beer can't be to bad :D

I'm up late and at this very moment I'm watching a baseball game on Channel One which is a new free to air HD sports channel downunder. The game is between some guys called the Mariners who are playing the Twins. As it's a free to air channel I doubt that the game is very recent but I'm enjoying it more than most cricket games as I'm not a big cricket fan. Sad to say I don't have any beer in the fridge atm but I've had a few bourbons.

Sammy

That was a great win - I love the fact Damon had one stolen from him at the outfield wall - LOL - Oh, I wish I could have gone to see that one. :D

Those tickets for Opening Day - went crazzzy because of all the NY Yankees fans bidding on them on Ebay - I sure hope they felt they got their money's worth - LOL, LOL - ;)

GO O's ! (at least in the AL)

Well guys, I have watched my first baseball game  :D Seattle got up 6-1 over Minnesota, and apparently it was a recent match which surprised me considering it was televised on an Aussie free to air channel. It was faster paced than the average cricket game and I have to say I enjoyed the game despite knowing very little about the teams and even the rules.

The stand out player for me was Ken Griffey who seemed to be able to hit every ball no matter where it was coming from. I have to admit that I am not familiar with any of the other current great batters but they would have to be PDG to be better than Griffey.

With the current economic situation limiting peoples entertainment opportunities I think American baseball will attract some more fans this year. At least it provides a good excuse to drink beer and eat hotdogs.

Btw, I still can't get into American football. With due respect to the many fans of American football it is like watching a Chess game compared to Aussie Rugby League.

The Nationals are at it already. As Gus McCrae would say, "It's a bad start." Game #3 starting, now. Will be eager to see if the Nationals learned how to pitch or field since last night. -- lancer

I hope you are right Sammy; it would be nice to still be in the hunt at the end of the season for the first time in ages.;)
