BATTLE OF BRITAIN---Oscar-winner Robert Towne (CHINATOWN, THE FIRM, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE) will write the script for this World War II movie about the Battle of Britain which pitted the Royal Air Force and the Luftwaffe in the "first major campaign to be fought entirely by air forces" and was supposed to be a prelude to the German invasion of England. The movie is not related to the 1969 movie BATTLE OF BRITAIN which starred Michael Caine, Robert Shaw, Christopher Plummer, Laurence Olivier and Ian McShane.

My thoughts whenever they remake classic movies is I hope they don't muller it!!!! I hope its a great addition and follows what happened closely and, be authentic.... no Harvard trainers posing as ME 109's and the like

This isn't really a remake, though, is it? It's just a new treatment of an historical event.

What I'd hope is that the producers and writers don't go the "Pearl Harbor" or "Midway" route, adding superfluous fictional storyline content, that detracts from retelling what is really a modern epic. The real events, right down to each individual's viewpoint and experience, is story enough. That's what make "Tora! Tora! Tora!", "The Longest Day" or "A Bridge Too Far" such great movies, or what makes "Band of Brothers" such a great series.

Prost!

THE BARON:

You mean you don't want to see Kate Beckinsale in her Spitfre downing 5 ME-109s over London in a single mission? {sm3}

I agree with dragon53. I think that the aircraft will be CGI. Hard to find the real planes today and a lot cheaper to do CGI than use the real planes. I think Brad is right on the mark, too. No more horrors like that Pearl Harbor movie from a few years ago. The actual stories are fascinating enough without the addition of some worthless, fictional sidestory. The original BoB, with all that star power, (both human and aircraft), is going to be hard to equal. -- Al

I would like to see the modern equivalent of the late Susannah York in her 1940s knickers.
