U.S.Army puts/assigns a C/O to the PTO(D.Doss...MOH),***? Germans did not deliberately shoot at Army Medics ..Doss winds up in theater where the Japs whacked everyone.
All 'other'Army medics AND Navy line-assigned Hospital Corpsmen all carried a firearm. This however ,in NO way detracts from Medic Doss's accomplishments during this fight.
