Ok, I started out wanting to replicate Quatre Bras, but since I added some new Poles, French Guard Chasseurs and other figures that weren't at that battle, I switched it to a fictional battle between French allies and British allies.........maybe a real Quatre Bras someday, but here is the result.........

Thanks Rob, glad you like it. Have to admit I really like this one, took awhile to get it the way I wanted it to look, but I am happy with the end result............

Holy cow, George! That's impressive. How long did it take you again to set all that up? To say nothing of preparing the pieces.

Prost!

Thanks Brad, it took about 6 hours to set it all up.........will be leaving this one in place for awhile..............:wink2:

That's awesome George, it looks like one epic battle and i hope you didn't twinge your back while bending over and placing the middle figures on the dio. I know my back would have complained if i was setting it up.

Thanks Tom for your comments; placement of certain groups of troops was a bit taxing on my back.

Yes, I am getting old...................:mad:

George, I thought your ACW dios had a lot of color and action, but this is remarkable. There are so many different nations, with so many different flags and uniforms that careful study is needed to take it all in. I really like all the cavalry, such large numbers. The buildings are also quite detailed and complex. It is fantastic that you have such resources for this kind of epic battle set-up. Having great fun looking at all the detail. I don't know Napoleonic warfare well, but the clothing industry must have loved it. :wink2: ^&grin -- Al

Al,
Thanks for your comments. As you can probably guess by now, ACW and Napoleonics are my two favorite periods to collect; Napoleonics for the all the color and the massive battles involving both infantry and cavalry, ACW because it was fought on our own soil, plus there were massive battles fought in that war too using thousands of troops, both of which lend themselves to huge layouts with thousands of figures as you've seen from my dioramas.

The Napoleonic war featured nations like France, Austria, Russia, Germany and England which all put thousands of troops into the field of battle but also smaller nations who fought with the French and the British, allies who joined forces with each nation, Waterloo featured many troops from many nations, the Battle of Leipzig fought in 1813 was called The Battle of Nations as it featured numerous nations in it............................

Nice one George!..WOW those squares have come along way i remember some of your first napoleonic dio threads.
Those squares have now tripled in size.......you might need a bigger table soon ^&grin

That is a most impressive display you have setup there George! really like the Farm complex and those Hinton Hunt figures still stand up to the more modern ones!

:salute::

Thanks and I'm glad you like this one; I think I overdid it with the size of the squares..........;)..............maybe should have made them a bit smaller and added a third one, there's always next time.............
