Hello all:

I performed a cursory search of this item on the forum but didn't return many hits which is likely due to my ineptitude.

With that being said, what is the general consensus on this release? I am a bit surprised it is still available being an SL item so it gives me pause to think their must be a flaw of some sort. I am not an expert but the item appeals to me so I thought I should ask the esteemed members of the forum.

So, what do you think of the set?

Take care -

Eric

Hi Eric,
I don't have this set cos it simply doesn't appeal to me. Might be a different story if the figures were made available separately.

Cheers

Eric:

I have it. Maybe its just me, but I really like it. It goes well with a motorpool diorama. I dont know if this is helpful or not but it's just my opinion.

I've got it and think it's a great set. Some of the tanker figures rank amongst K&C's best IMO. And with the rise in prices over recent months, at $199 with 7 figures (2 x 1/2, 1 x 3/4 and 4 x full figures), this is a comparitive bargain.

No offence meant.
I sincerely hope I didn't offend anyone on the forum, or indeed any guests looking in, when I simply stated that this set doesn't appeal to me personally.
On careful reflection, I've changed my mind, no offence but I now think it's a fantastic set....

Cheers

Harry, how can anyone possibly take offence?

Even if you hate it you are entitled to your opinion.

Best wishes

Harry

I agree - you are allowed your own opinion.
I haven't gotten the set because I don't collect the BBA - Americans - but, probally should get it - because when a SL is gone its gone forever at retail.

I think it is a great set, and an important one from a K&C historical standpoint: it, along with the tank destroyer released at approximately the same time, were the first two K&C vehicles with the improved tracks. Also, it has a figure which greatly resembles Patton.

Hi Eric,

I have the set and I am very pleased with it. Like yourself, I am perplexed regarding why the set is still available. Most SL sets disappear rather rapidly, but, for whatever reason, this one has been an exception. Nevertheless, I am glad it is included in my collection.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Especially if one considers the price of the new Sherman with two or was it three half figures! The only complaint was all the gear is permanently attached!

Well Harry, I am offended by your wishy-washy nature. Pick an irritating position and stick to it man! If you were a politician I would understand the trait but oil tycoons are men of action and resolve. :p:D

Thank you all for your responses. I started out telling myself I would avoid WW II as I have so many diecast aircraft and armor already I wanted to branch out. Now I find myself saying, well just the BotB and this caught my eye for its uniqueness.

One of my favorite sets, but I like all of the BOB range. Ever since the production run went up on the "Limited Edition Sets" to 1250 pcs, they seem to be available from dealers for a long long time.

It's a well detailed set with some added historical interest and represents good value for money imo. My D-Day Churchill is a bit out numbered at the moment and I may get that Sherman set in as backup.

This photo looks familar;)

I plan on picking up the BBA15SL as soon as possible,i have put it on the backburner while picking up some other retired stuff, but it's a beauty I saw it in person at the west coaster, and for a winter collector or late war it's a must have.....sammy

I forgot to mention on a recent strictly limited thread that Treefrog has just a few of the General Inspection sets left in stock as well as the others we mentioned.
Having some left in stock is not always an indicator of the popularity of the set but more an indicator of how many the dealer ordered in the first place so the well wouldn't dry up for their customers too soon.
Once these last few are sold we of course won't be able to get more from K&C so if you want one don't delay too much longer.
Regards,

But, but, but.....
Listen Eric - it was those NICE pills I was on that made me do it. But I'm okay again now and back to normal (?)... ;)

Only kiddin'. I don't have any strong opinions either way on the sandbagged sherman. It's like everything else, if individuals like the set - then why not? I myself have enough Battle of the Bulge items now and don't envisage obtaining any more. I'm tending more towards Victorian or earlier eras these days rather than WWII - apart from Desert WWII of course, which will always remain one of my favourites.

Cheers :)

This was the Sherman type (with that particular gun muzzle )that I was hoping would be in the sandbagged decor....Bought a damaged set and fixed the Sherman, while selling off the standing figures. Love the tank and often think about adding that long gun, unless Binder tells me that I can't...Michael

I have it and think it is "ok"......It took me some time to warm up to this tank too many sandbags IMO and too symetrically placed.... when I finally decided to make the purchase it was the figures that tipped the scales.......:D
