Bentley Priory- Work in progress (1 Viewer)

Well talk about following in your ancestors footsteps. I have today found out that my Grandfather who was a carpenter by trade worked on the operations table here at Bentley priory . He also worked for a building contractor whose job it was to go onto airfields that had been hit in air raids and patch up buildings, fill in craters in the runways and generally get the airfields up and running again. On several occasions he was at work when fatso Goerings boys returned for another crack. He worked on many different airfields throughout the War including USAAF bases in Norfolk and Suffolk. I had no idea when I toured the building that I was following in my dear old grandfathers very footsteps. And to think he was one of the guys that put the airfields back into action again so the Fighter boys could get up there and get at the Luftwaffe, I'm very proud of him.
