I am very keen about WWII Nth Africa theme (deep down in me I am just like JB).

I talked to several big bosses (CS etc) out there and they don't seem to be very enthusiastic about the italians in desert because they don't think it will sell.

I plan to do a modification using the upper body of the Del Prado italian colonial troop combine with the lower body of a mounted figure and mount it on a 1/24 plastic Guzzi Alce bike (somebody in this forum showed that a 1/24 IXO Zundapp matches K&C figures in scale)

I saw nmrocks and redhugh did some good K&C conversions/mods previously.

What kid of equipment do I need to chop off the body parts?

btw, the desert Bersaglieri motocycle dispatcher looks so cool in the opening scene of the movie El Alamein in the line of fire 2002 (italian) and I just need to have him in 1/30.

Hi Ober,
I was just starting on one myself, which I had to do what you spoke of.
I use a x-acto knife saw blade to cut metal figures such as the one I've included in the pics.
It can be a bit slow and a little tiring to the hands, but it's pretty straight forward. I visually fit the halves together and file as needed to make the fit. I'll usually make the cut a bit longer than the mark to give myself some "fudge" room and file to fit. in this case I cut the AK collectors showcase driver just above the pant line and the K&C 252 driver just below the tunic line. Once I have the fit I want I'll use a small dremmel drill bit that matches brass rod size and do about a 3/8th deep hole in both halves, pin and glue. I use green stuff or white putty to fill as needed.
I'm planning on using this for a luftwaffe airfield scenario.

Nice piece Ray i wish i was talented enough to try something along those lines but i dont think it wouldn't come out particularly well lol

nmrocks you are awesome!

thank you but not really, good luck on your project, make sure you post the results, I'd love to see it as I love repaints and conversions and I'll post completed pics when mine is done.

An Italian company does an excellent 1/35 Italian Cylce! I think it is ROYAL MODELS or VICTORIA MODELS,, EL ALEMEIN was a great movie! I really do hope the K&C Italians do well...

nmrocks,

what are your plans for the italian motorbike? What figures/parts are you planning to use for your mod?

Yes it could be really a good idea to make a motocycle, i think Andy should produce it with the next batch of Italians because was very typical in the desert. Here is an example:
