Best Ninja or Samurai Figures? (1 Viewer)

My 11 year old is a Wado Ryu Karate Champion Grandmaster. So i am looking into getting him some figures for Christmas. I have already gotten him a 1/6 Crazy Owners Ninja figure. Any thoughts on 54mm?? Anyone collect?

My personal opinion has always been East of India, hands down. They did some ninja figures but can be a challenge to obtain.

First Legion's samurai are very good and not as expensive as Aeroart's.

Monarch Regalia have some very nice Samurais if you like glossy figures.

i really don't believe anyone does a bad job on Samurai across the board- which is rather unique as some companies tank on some lines. Samurai seem to be well done no matter what price point you are looking at.

As a followup to what Combat said, try eBay. There are a number of sellers from Russia, selling both painted and unpainted 54mm figures, some from the better known studios, and for reasonable prices, eg, less than $20, many for $10. Search in the "Toy Soldiers > Post 1970" category, and you will find many. Even many of the unpainted castings are antiqued, with an India ink wash, and are very nice figurines done in this style.

The only drawback is that shipping might be as much as the figure; I haven't paid close attention to the shipping costs. I just know that there are many figures up for auction, and all at prices well below what AeroArt will charge. Something worth considering.

The Aeroart are pretty hard to beat...but you certainly pay hard to own them...

I have heard people say that they are extremely difficult to re-coup their original market price when you grow tired and want to sell them...

I think the market for a figure at this price...is pretty small...it's not an investment most people are willing to commit to...but they are lovely...just out of my range financially...

Have to agree East of India did some great sets which can still be got for a good price. FL are nice and sounds as though they would be properly appreciated

Perhaps more suitable for a boy of eleven years of age would be the very nice PAPO 90 MM premier series Samurai figures; only two available a Mounted and foot Samurai in full armor. Very affordable and if dropped they bounce

Not to mention they are very very well done. I think Schliech and Papo make some extraordinary figures and they do a great job proving what can be done with plastic.

For a kid, especially, you can't beat East of India's line of samurai. Great figures and will not break the bank or cause you fits if dropped. The other lines are great, but more of a collectors' item.
