As their was a similar thread last year , I thought i,d kick this one off.
what has been the stand out set or your favourite of 2007.
my picks are

For glossys it has to be imperials Hussars ,glossys at their best
[and the fact imperials back producing figures]

For matte figures it has to be King and Country I was rapt to see the re release of the lrdg but my favourite from the pieces i,ve bought is the SAS jeep

For me, without question, the relaunch of K&C warbirds . . . I've bought 10 so far, and each is amazing!

Although I've not got my grubby little paws on it, going by the photos, it's going to have to be the K&C Chaffee for me. That said, the Market Garden series is fantastic and one piece that really got me dribbling and babbling incoherantly was the Figarti B-17.

Hands down the HB Jagdpanthers.

However, I am still unsure as to where Conte's Roman War Galley will fit in and how it will look.

For me the Warbirds. Excluding those however, the LRDG Chevies are my favorite.

I'm going with the Crimean War range by K&C UK.....just magnificent!

:):):)

Need to mention one other favorite of mine: the RHA set, a limited edition form Aujj Miniatures:)

This was a very difficult decision. There are so many to choose from.

And all I need say about this guy is JOHN JENKINS. Nothing more needs to be said.

Yesterday, I got all the new K&C Battle of the Bulge Americans and the M5 Tractor. What beauties those new figures are and the M5 is just plain Great. I also received the BBG RSO and that vehicle is really cool (and that's just the first pun today). The new Tiger, well what can I say but WOW.

The Opel Blitz', the new FJ's, the two new Stugs, the FOB French 75 and all the new FOB figures, the LRDG releases, the M12, the Vichy French camel corps, the DAK Panzer II, and all the other new WWII stuff including all those brilliant motorcyles. How do I choose?

And what about the Napoleonic releases. The Cold Stream Guards, the Chasseurs, the Scots Greys, the RHA, the French 45th, and of course the Cuirassiers. What wonderful figures.

And that's just K&C. The new (now retired) NMA Tigers and those great little scout tanks the Lynx'. Or, the HB Shermans and the Jadgpanters. Both the Shermans and the Jadgpanters are GREAT. The Collector's Showcase 88.

But, I finally came to a decision as I was reviewing all my purchases for the last 12 months. For me its an obvious choice. The K&C Crusaders are truely the best works of art I have in my collection. Between John Jenkins and the Crusaders was a very very close competition. Its like asking me to tell you which of my children I love more than the other. Really its the same with all the new releases this year.

But since I have made a choice. Of the Crusaders, its the "Fight to the Death" MK51 that for me is the best release of 2007. :)

I think we would be remiss if nobody mentioned the Figarti Schnellenboot (E-Boat), B17's and 1:30 LRDG Chevy's (which have the correctly marked tires with the correct tire treads). I think these releases are right up there with the K&C Warbirds which are my favorites.

I agree Louis.

My understanding is that E-Boat sales have been brisk. It was a great year for collectors.

"WB Zulu War (matte/glossy) kick-off". I'm sure you guys forgot all about it as it's the obvious nr.1 choice :D.

If you're talking about releases of the year, it probably makes sense to distinguish to what's generally available to collectors and what's not. The Warbirds, B 17 and E boat are very expensive items that only a few can afford. Within that class, I would pick the Warbirds but that's just my personal preference.

The Figarti Chevy would belong to the other group of what we all can afford so I wouldn't compare to the Warbirds, etc.

I had forgotten about these till Jeff mentioned them but I think hands down, no questions asked, the Crimea issues have to be the best, even if you don't collect them. The best sculpted best painted figures I've ever seen.

I would vote for Lt Vereker bringing up the ammunition at Islandwana by Little Legion and the LRDG sets by K and C and Figarti. We should restrict this to products that have already hit the shelves in 2007. I would think the Britains Zulu War sets will be front runners in 2008.

K&C UK Crimean War series gets my vote - without a shadow of a doubt, although the LRDG/SAS vehicles come in at a close second.
Cheers

The Figarti E-Boat is the "WOW" winner with much better detail than the K & C Warbirds for not much more money considering the additional figures etc.

The middle range winner would be the Honour Bound Jadgpanther, with the K & C LRDG Chevs winning the "model(s) for the masses" category.

For me it was the Charge of the Light Brigade and Arnhem series.Continuation of excellance from K&C.My fave non K&C product was without doubt the Figarti V1.Wonderful model.:)

It seems that for the most part, the three companies which are consistently listed as producing the best products are King & Country, Figarti and Honour Bound (with Britains also getting a mention). I think this is clearly the golden age for matt toy soldier production. It sure is fun figuring it all out!

Excactly, and on top of that 2008 looks set to be a great year for collectors.:)
