Had a eureka moment and dug up my hoard to locate two bison heads cast in metal from a plastic toy head. Then decided to make more bison heads of differing sizes from other plastic animals.

Why did I do it? Why indeed…..

It is. However it has a humanoid face, unlike bisons which I see on the internet. The walking bear is a Marx recast and the pony a HK toy. I use these as armatures to resculpt different sizes of bison heads.

Sculpted more of the bisons. I thot of doing three diff sized heads to give me sufficient variety maybe for a bison hunt(hint hint). Notice that the faces are sculpted as I want the eyes to look sideways, not frontally. That’s quite a lot of bull…. Hahaha.

Sculpted a bit more. Separated the heads from the bodies.
will redo the large head as I tk the eyes are too far apart.

Quite impressive sculpting Victor on the Bison heads. Thanks for sharing your progress.

Cheers,

Hi Grey

thx for yr comments. I sculpt empirically. Small areas at a time. Any errors are redone. So it is quite easy.

I carved down the sides of the large bull head and resculpted the eyes.

It was not easy to cut the large bull head down to size. This was cast in metal. What I did was to drill multiple holes along the edges and then snipped off the excess parts.
I repositioned the horns and the proportions are now the same as the smaller heads.
I will extend all their snouts a little and then detail these heads.

Starting to come together. Thanks Victor for showing your progress.

Hi Paddy and Grey,

thx for yr nice comments. My tutorials are meant for low brow sculpting. Hahahhaa

Here are the lengthened snouts. I think it makes them look more bovine rather than caprine. I’m just an intellectual snob. Hahahaha.

Hey Victor, I don't think you could confuse Caprine with Bison even in the facial features. Good work with the sculpting.

Cheers,
Grey

Hi Grey,
almost done with the heads.

im just fooling ard with a couple of equus. Historex vs masterbox. Some difference in size. Interesting.

Starting to detail the bisons. Reshaped some of their heads and resculpted some body parts.

I’ve undercoated the firs batch of bisons. Also knocked up an Indian and pony from scraps
