Bisons (1 Viewer)

I tk that I hv almost finished the red indian and pony. Adding the bow, strings and arrow were really fiddly work. But if y can make this , y can make it anywhere…. New York. Ta da ta da da da…😂

You should work for a TS factory with your sculpting skill...

Victor . . . I just found your thread and I am thoroughly enjoying it and your superb sculpting skills I recently decided to creat a Bison hunt using some of my JJD Blackfoot Native American figures. I matched them up with a few KC Bison which work well but aren't as dynamically posed as yours. I wish I had the skill you have shared with us here.

Hi Mike, poppo, britfarmer and Steve,
thx for looking in and yr kind comments.
Mike, y beat me to the diorama with commercial figs. Exactly what I am trying to do for a good friend of mine on another thread.

what I am doing here is another parallel diorama using my own animated figs. Here is the bkgd being shaped. I like to paint my own bkgd.

here’s the red indian on pony with more details added and some paint.

the main bisons were resized. I am adding another bison made from very poor armature. That is a tamiya horse head!!!

I made up even more shadowboxes. For this piece, I created depth by adding a section of ikea frame insert. Then I glued the bkgd to the box.

I ptd the bisons. Will be adding a few more bisons later. I’ve started recruiting more armatures. Need to add two more Indians on ponies and a small bison. Notice that I am reusing a Napoleonic officer which was originally made for my Hougomont diorama.

There’s also this bison scene….. sculpted and finished the 2nd Indian. Slapped some paint on him.

Adding two more bisons. Notice the sheer deterioration of any sculpting skills. Quantity over quality……

Added more bisons. Sculpted a total of 6 bisons over the weekend. I’ve gone further and replaced the moulded horns with wire inserts and resculpted horns. Painted them and will take pics after they have dried out. Also redid the hind legs and rump for this Indian pony.

And I actually have 12 bisons and two Indians so far!! Time to work more on the box scene…

I started to place the figures on a base for the interaction. This piece is based on a Charles Russell buffalo hunt no 40 ptg. Still more work to do.

And guess what? Major snafu…..
i hv to resize some of the beasties to achieve my visual perspectives.
I also repositioned the base within the shadowbox to be more aligned with the ptg.
will also hv to reposition the pieces. Why me? Why can’t I have a staid hobby like stamp collecting…..

I fixed most of the snafu over the weekend. Bodycount 12 bisons. Here’s two of them still looking like battlefield casualties.
