Hi Guys,

Re some recent posts…

1. Hawkeye’s New Ideas.

Actually I like a couple of them on the transport side – I know we’re deficient there.

Re the “Jagd Tiger” – much as I like Tigers this particular one does nothing for me personally. Sorry I’ll leave it to Honour Bound or NMA.

2. Napoleonic Attractions.

I know how Pat and some others feel about starting “yet another” new collection. For years I felt the same about designing and manufacturing “Napoleonics”. Then, one day, about halfway through our work on Del Prado’s first Napoleonic series – “The Infantry” ones I thought “hey, these really are pretty good and the variety of uniforms etc., was simply breathtaking. Now “Napoleonics” is one of my own personal favourites – for colours…variety…and spectacle it’s hard to beat this historical era and its many campaigns and battles.

3. Some Sample Warbirds

Oz, Andy’s thumb is down because of the “roughness” of the finished sample – definitely not the clear canopy which, in fact, was no canopy at all, just a wire/metal frame.

The painted blue/gray canopies of our old warbirds never bothered me in the slightest nor very many of the thousands of satisfied collectors who bought them.

4. Congratulations to Panadaglen.

Well done Kevin. I hear you’re going to be representing Honour Bound in the UK – best of luck. Will you be in Chicago in September?

Well, as Bugs Bunny would say, “That’s All For Now, Folks!”

Best wishes and happy collecting!

Andy C.

The blue painted canopies never bothered me on the planes. I always thought they looked great, although the sliding canopy versions like the late production Hawker Hurricane and P40 Curtis Hawk were an improvement. I was, however, never overly enamored of the painted blue windows on trucks, until I got ahold of the prototypes (Austin Tilly, Bedford Troop transport Lorry, Bedford QL radio Command Vehicle) where a master painter had painted the windshields to look dusty with a clear spot in the shape of the windshield wiper. If you cannot have open truck cabs with clear plastic windshields, the added realism of the marks of the windshield wipers really adds something to the vehicles.

Hi Andy,

Was just wondering if the stuff you are working on for future release will be at the Chicago show, will they also be at the London show in December?.Hope to see you there

Rob.

I've never liked blue painted canopies and never will, as for jazz, I prefer real music :)
