Ragnar, Those look sweet! I have 72 more assorted Prussians assembled and primered + some new French I did in the Summer. My painting table runneth over. Naps, WW2, Dark Ages, Spartacus ect.
Still tinkering with Prussian gunner masters too.
Keep chipping away at the painting Rob.Theres always more to do!

Thanks Fubar, Yep there's allways more to do,Prussian gunners sounds good.
just curious but do you plan on doing any French Command kits..
looking forward to seing your next HUGE dio..
Cheers
Rob,

Fubar, Nice stuff!!! I,ve also thought about converting some prussian artillary! I,m trying to do a few command and wounded figures first then I was going to try and do a few artillary gunners.
I,ve also got a full table of your half painted figures, both plastic and metal with conversions in both plastic and metal mixed in also.
So much to paint so little time!
I think I,m trying to get to many painted all at once doing the production line thing but I want to do an 1813 diorama and need a lot of prussian/russian figures painted fast so its Quantity over quality for now.
I can always touch them up some more at a latter date and make them look a bit better.
Heres a few pictures of my work table so you can see what I,m talking about!
Lots of half painted figures.

Heres some pictures of some of the conversions. There are also a lot of conversions mixed in the half painted figures if you,ve got a good eye! I made some new hands and stuff out of 2 part putty on a few of the figures and I have planes on converting some Conte G.I.s into Prussians Like what I did with the dead figure and 2 part putty.

Thanks Harold! That was a Conte G.I. and a lot of 2 part putty. I hope to transform a few more of them into landwher the same way also for a bit of varity and dead and wounded figures but I,ve got a lot of other stuff I want to finnish up first.
Do you have any plans on adding some command, flag bearers, and wounded/dead figures to your Prussian line?
I got some paint on him today, here are a couple of pictures!

Those look awesome Tim.
My answer is YES to commands, French commands but I simply have had little time in recent months and when i do have time, I tend to do what I wanna do, paint something else, a Gladiator, whatever.I sit and look at rows of 1/2 done sculpts and know I need to work on them but just cant seem to do it.I guess I have too many collections and am spread all over, getting little done on any one thing.

Your casualty fig is an inspiration though and I appreciate it.
I dusted off the 5 Prussian cannon crewmen last nite and they are near ready for the moldmaking and vulcanizer.

A pal of mine did get the WATERLOO thread I did here on treefrog on the blackcat webpage so that was cool.I never did finish that either! No Hougomont, No Planceoit! No final gamble with the Guard.
You can see at least as far as I managed to get at
www.blackcatminiatures.net
Hopefully I'll have more troops done as castings and finish off the battle narrative by June 2009.

Any chance of seeing the french grenadiers done in plastic any time soon??? Those would be some great figures to chop up in plastic! I did a bunch of conversions with the metal kits but I could have a field day converting those guys in plastic.
Now you need to do some Austrian kits, there is a lot of conversions that can be done with them with just some simple head swopes and gear changes. A few figures could go a long way! Then you can add great coats on those also and get some more milage out of them!
You can make shako heads, helmet heads, bearskin(grenadiers), corsican hat heads for jagers and engineers.

Tim, The answer to that one is a defiante no. Sorry.I would like to but I dont want to do it overseas.Maybe in the future but right now, not going to happen.
I'll just have to be happy with making metal kits and I am looking into a bench top injection molder so i can make short run unique figs rather than mass produced line infantry types.I may have a big MOVE in the not to distant future so many irons I might have in the fire are on hold.
Sorry.I'm up for it but I dont even know exactly where I may be in a year!

Plenty of room down here Harold to expand your Armies :D.
keep chugging along with your metal kits they are great...plastic would still be nice but the kits are good value and nice to paint.

Ragnar,

Was thinking Montana if Not Central/ Eastern Oregon, But Australia is worth consideration !

Thanks for the encouragement! Actually have the Prussian gunners ready to mold!

Harold

I,ve been messing around with some more Conte G.I.s and 2 part putty, striping the detail from the figures and adding new detail with the putty. I,m no sculpter but I,m having fun and the Conte poses will add some much needed dead and wounded figures to my Prussians army and a bit more action poses also.
Here are a couple of pictures of the striped conte figures with a little bit of putty work started on them and a couple more that are almost done also.

I finnished a couple more prussian conversions useing the Conte figures as base figures with the detail removed and new detail added useing 2 part putty and I threw a quick paint job on them.
I still need to touch up the paint but for the most part there done.
I also added some scratch built drinking gourds made from 2 part putty and made the rope holding them by spining fine wire together in a drill to look like rope.

Thanks Harold! I,m just kinda steeling your idea of converting your french and russians into prussians but just useing conte figures instead. I can,t wait to see the gunners, please post pictures soon!
I,ve still got a lot of painting and converting to do but I want to try and do some Cossacks and Opolchenie russians also.
Same type of idea, remove detail from other figures and add new detail with 2 part putty.
Some german booted figures or cavalry boot figures would be good base figures I think, then add some great coats ect.
Some pikes, axes, muskets maybe some viking parts like axes and winter leggings. Some mounted and unmounted Cossacks.
The saddle detail on cossacks horses is pretty simple, just a matter of removing the detail from some other plastic horse, maybe TSSD or Italeri???
Lots of ideas, so little time.
I need some Russian/ Prussian cavalry and cossacks would be the easiest to do. For Prussian cavalry there are a few options with covered shakos I could cut them from AIP figures or your metal heads.
Have you thought about winter russians yet to get even more milage out of your figures? Just do the great thing on your russian casts, Do up some of your own cossacks and its time for some retreat from mosscow dioramas! You already have the great coat french. You can buy up all the left over snow covered X-mas trees ect. on clearance after X-mas.
Just some food from thought! I,m shure you,ve got all kinds of ideas fling through your head like myself.
Hey harold how about casting some spare parts for sale like muskets swords pikes packs gear ect. for battle field clutter and conversion work.
I saw the weapons you made for your barbarian figures how about making some pikes for cossacks, lancers, landwher and Opolchenie???

Fish came up with some good ideas there Harold.
just stepping out of Napoleonics for a bit but here is another idea you may consider someday how about wounded or dead Vikings/Normans.
anyway just a thought..:D
A Viking on his knees with a arrow thru his neck...ouch.
A dead Norman pepperd with Arrows.
