Blackcat "THEY ARE PRUSSIANS! LOOK!" (2 Viewers)

Here they are. At least I have some crew figures now. The cannon is a Niena that gowes with their Prussian set. All it is is a 8pounder French gun painted in Prussian blue grey. I'll get on the actual cannon soon. Russian guns won't LOOK right, niether do French , Britisih, Austrian or anything else.

Lots of ideas.Yes 1066, more Napoleonics ect but spread too thin lately.
By the way, The cheap Fir trees they sell at craft stores work fine . I get a can of forest green flat spray paint and hit them with that.No more snow!

Nice stuff Harold! They look nice, I,ll have to have you send me some of those when you have some extras ready.
I was wondering what you were going to use for cannons? I was thinking of useing british cannons, I think they look the closest to Prussian ones.
The french cannons will work though as captured ones were also used.

Tim, The British Cannons have a single trail but I dont recall if the Prussians ever got any " lend lease" from the British.
Actually this model isnt bad , but the tube should be different.
I have a couple more French on the bench almost done, then who knows. Maybe some expired Prussians?
Whatever my fevered mind comes up with, who knows. Just making expired troops for different periods, Dark ages, Acw, ect could keep a guy busy.

How about doing nothing but expired figures and changing the name from Blackcat to Grim Reaper minatures?:p

I think Grim Reaper might be all ready taken (28mm) ???.

P.s I have already thought of a name for my own line.
ToughDog Miniatures "Toysoldiers with Bite"

I finnished a couple more of those Prussians I converted from conte G.I.s.
The first picture shows the 2 new conversions I just finnished the other pictures include the other conversions along with some Blackcat figures I painted up. The blackcat figures still need some touching up but I included them anyway.
The trees and background pieces are all new pieces I just made also from foam, branches, and dried flowers ect.

Tim, Your Conte/blackcat conversions are , I say again, splendid.
I have been setting up a Napoleonic insanity over the last 3 weeks. A little here, a little there.
Cold weather the last few weeks has sort of put a damper on it though.Still 4 wheeled it to the cave on a daily basis{ the critters still need fed} but I just didnt manage to get much done.Too much fun putting around the snowy fields and woods on the 4trax.
I have Austrians, Russians and Prussians deployed, French and Allies , started.
The tables 16' in length and so packed with troops, theres no room to manuever.
I'll get some pix tonite. Have to. To much of an effort getting it set out and you know me, I'm ready for something else already!Plus, making more figs.
I still havent got any of the CORRECT Prussian cannons, but I did paint another crew and found those AIP REVWAR cannons that painted up nice and LOOK like Prussian 6lbers.
Again, Awesome job.

Simply Fantastic Harold once again you have out done yourself :D.
I notice the AIP Prussians in there they look good with the Blackcats.
Would be great being there in flesh... I know i would be walking around that table about fifty times :D.
or atleast until ya kick me out or maybe just leave me there allnight with the critters.

Second the fantastic my Aussie friend and I sure Harold you've made Tim's day once he's seen the photos. Seems you've made a special effort to four wheel it to your man cave also to spend time setting it up for your photo shoot. Thanks for sharing it with us. Your now on the hook for Rorke's Drift next. Here's wishing you Happy New Year and a fun filled 2009.....The Lt.

Harold, Great shots!!! I needed something to cheer me up from my computor virus blues.

also looking foward to your next Nap dio.
just finnished my Russian gun crew now i just have to paint up the 12 pounder.

Yes, LT, I'm on the HOOK for 1879 diorama/wargame. Waiting for a few more troops.Clearing off the table of the Napoleonic insanity.I am convincing myself that multi figure basing, even with 54mm Frontlines/Britains ect is the way to go. At least for me.Maybe nuts, but with the mass I have accumulated it makes sense.Resale value? I dont care. Not expecting to sell them.
Yes, there are some AIP Prussians out there Ragnar. I think 64 of them mixed in. Never did get any AIP Landwehr.Someday.The
Guys are coming over Friday. We'll see what we come up with.I'll let them set something up.
I've been playing CALL OF DUTY 5 on my Son's XBOX, so I'm leaning towards WW2.

Thanks and Happy New year!

Fubar, your insanity is our gain :).........looking forward to your next set up.

I finally got back around to working on the Prussian landwher I started awhile back a couple of pages back on this thread. The ones that were made from Conte WWII G.I. as base figures. They still need some more work still but I figured I,d take a couple of pictures before they get cleaned and primed for painting so you can still see the work that has been done to them, which is mostly 2 part putty work.

And while I,m at it here is a quick idea for a pile of cannon balls! I had some BBs kicking around on my work bench from some plastic fishing lures I was loading up to cast further and give them a little bit of rattle and came up with the idea of piling them up onto a washer or plastic base from a figure and with a little 2 part putty and glue make some nice little cannon ball stacks.
Just spread some 2 part putty onto the washer and texture it to look like grass with a small wire brush and stick the BBs into the putty and glue more BBs into a pile!
And a quick shot of my work bench.

Hey Tim...glad to see you back on here posting, shooting pics, working and giving us new ideas.

Looks like the cannonballs are a pretty good scale and will make some nice props:cool:...

I see you got a lot of work to do.

Hope work is going your way...glad you're posting again.
