I've been collecting FIrst Legion's WWII Stalingrad range from the very beginning. One of the things that has impressed me about it to date is that Matt and his partner are not content with their product and continue to strive to improve and challenge themselves. They listen to constructive criticism and one can see a definite positive evolution from the first releases to those today.

Case in point the new BMW R75 motorcycles. This is some of the finest work in this range to date IMO.

Enough talk lets get to the pictures:

GERSTAL039 - This bike features a rider and a passenger, carries a unit emblem for 24.Panzer-Division and a tactical symbol for a messenger platoon. Motorcycles were ubiquitous in the German Army and aside for the Kradschützen Abteilung they could be found throughout motorized divisions.

Since the figures are removable the possibilities start to open up for this piece. It can simply be parked somewhere in a scene. It can be used with the rider alone omitting the passenger and MG-34 (The passenger and MG can't be separated)

While the passenger and MG for this set can't be separated the MG for GERSTAL041 can be substituted to produce yet another variation

GERSTAL041 - This bike features a single Feldgendarmerie. The unit emblem is for 16.Panzer-Division. The tactical symbol is for Military Police (Traffic Control)

Hello Franck,
Great pics!
I'am waiting for GERSTAL041, my dealer in France don't received it at this time!
After seeing these pics, I get impatient!!
Best regards from France.

Hi Frank ,
Excellent review and your photo's are second to none . I agree that First Legion listens to constructive criticism and applies them to future releases . I remember Greycap bringing this to light back in 2010

" I think to be precise the waffenfarbwe for the crewman of the 24th Panzer PzKw III actually should be yellow. The 24th was formed from the Whermacht's last cavalry divison and to commemorate this fact the division was granted the honour to continue to use the yellow cavalry waffenfarbe. The divison aslo continued to use cavalry ranks e.g. "Rittmeister" instead of "Hauptman".

Which was very good information and it looks like Matt made the change and also several guys complained about the new look on the vehicles tires I think Frank you were leading the charge on that one and from the look of the tires on the bikes it looks like Matt has made another change for the better . Are First Legion perfect .... NO .... but it says a lot about Company who not only takes our money but listens to us as well . First Legion is a very young company with a bright future IMO and with collectors and company working together the skies are the limit as to how good they can become . Again Frank thanks for the excellent photo's I'm looking to add GERSTAL039 to my collection ....best preassembled and painted sidecar set ever yet made IMO .. Regards Gebhard

A great review mate and I might just have to pick up one of these beauties. I have some Russians coming my way soon and can't wait to display them with my Germans. For all of you WW2 collectors you should reallly think hard about getting these figures as you will not be dissapointed . Simmo.

It is a great looking motorcycle. It is the ultimate driving machine. I am expecting delivery of the Russian sniper in a couple of days.

Thank you.

Here are a few pictures in more appropriate setting

Well done on a very complete and in-depth review. It should answer any questions for those who are thinking about picking up one of these motorcycles.

Frank Excellent photos. Thank you for posting...I purchased both of these and must say the detail is top notch.....First Legion Rules{sm4}

Incredible pictures and great review. I've only collected the FL Crusaders line up to this point, but this may have to change...WOW.

Outstanding model and photos Frank. Almost looks like you could drive it away :smile2:

Those bikes are exquisite for detail and weathering. The one looks good with that H&A water scene.

Some great pics once again Frank, glad to see you posting with the new bikes, I also agree 100% with you that the releases seem to be getting better and better, the detail is hard to believe sometimes, my wife got me the German wounded/medic set and to look at the close-up detail is a wonderful thing, can't wait to get both bikes as well as the other new sets...Sammy

What's the evolution though? They look as outstanding as anything I've seen so far

Excellent photos. The detail on those bikes are amazing.

If i bought both bikes, would i be able to "mix and match" bikes/figures ? Is the swastika air recognition flag removable?
