We are all familiar with the efforts that Bob Hope made on behalf of the American soldier from WWII through Vietnam taking his USO shows to military bases around the globe ranging from the North African Desert to the Islands of the South Pacific. These were star-studded tours usually including one or more of the popular female movie stars or entertainers of the time. Bob Hope was born Leslie Townes Hope in Eltham, England in 1903. Had he been born in the 19th C and remained in England, he might have done the same for Queen Victoria's Army. Lillie Langtry shown below was one of the late Victorian era's most popular and greatest entertainers. Renowned for her great beauty she was also the mistress to "Bertie", the future King Edward of England. Surely Mr. Hope would have included this beauty on a visit to the Sudan with his own version of a Relief Expedition for the "love-starved" forces of her Majesty the Queen.;)

Now that would be the "Road to Morocco" not to be missed. Seems to me that Hope and Crosby did a campy clip with a camel at some point.
