Bored Tonight...Post a Diorama, LOL (6 Viewers)

FUBAR!!!:cool::cool::cool::cool:GREAT set up! I,ve always loved that era of the FFL. I remeber watching those old movies with my dad as a kid and then going and playing with the few FFL figures I had which were old marx figures that use to belong to him as a kid.
I always wanted to try and find more of them, I only had a hand full but I never could find any so I had to use cavalry figures instead and glue a small piece of tissue paper behind their caps. Those were the days!:p

Harold,

That is the coolest fort, it makes me want to go rent a copy of Beau Geste just to see the sadistic Sergeant and giggling private fall from the tower.

You did a brilliant job on painting it and great set up on the figures.

Who made the Arab buildings in the background and how long has it been in your closet?

Will we see a Viking funeral like in the movie?

OUTSTANDING!!! :D

Michael

Great setup Fubar! Very nice photos, too!

Thx for sharing.. just in time for the Playset Magazine's Captain Gallant/ FFL issue!

Jim

Thanks for all the kind words. Had a MARCH OR DIE wargame scenario in mind. No fort, just some ruins sandbags for terrain. Flu bugg flattened that get together, so I just arranged the table for the full FFL VS Arab look.SOlo wargames are not for me so it will all get put away for a while , I'm ready to do something else.
This is the LAST REMAKE OF BEAU GESTE for me. I did a 15mm collection, sold it. Later a 25mm collection, sold it, along with a 25mm Sudan collection . That started my funding into the world of 54mm Britians and Conte, OTSN 2003.

The buildings in the background are Barzo{ from the battle of Churabusco, or as i like to call it , the battle of Chupacabra} and way off in the back are some Conte Alamo buildings.I pulled everything out and was going to do an entire village with fort on the hill , but got bored and just started setting up figs.! The fort was
Hidden away in one of my Steel buildings for ,4-5 years. Finally just forced myself to paint it.
Yes, go get Beau geste, I hadnt watched it in years.

Man you can't find that movie on a shelf anywhere.

It's got to be 50 years old.

Blockbuster and Hollywood employees just look at you funny when you ask for an oldie and say, "Is that the new one with Brad Pitt?"

Turner classic or TNT will occassionaly show some stuff.

Glad you pulled it out and fixed it up, a very cool set-up, thanks,

Michael

PS...anybody who reads this post, if you see an "oldie but a goodie" (or any war movie) on the tube any night coming up soon, send me a personal message to remind me, I check it everyday.

I have been wanting to see Andersonville again for a long time.

Have not thought about that movie for a long time, it was a good one though, anything with Hackman was good, I just googled it and his best line was,

"Some of you men will try to quit, some of you men will try to run away, nobody in my command has succeed. If the desert doesn't get you. The Arabs will. If the Arab doesn't get you, the Legion Will. If the Legion doesn't get you then I will".

It's nice to see so many nice dioramas being posted. Tim good job with this one. I like the small details in yours. Your dios improve with each posting and they remain entertaining.

Carlos

Tim,

That's a sweet barn you made.

Love the detail on the broken and cracked plaster.

The ivey on the wall is a really nice touch too.

When you get tired of it, I'll give you my address, :D.

Michael

I see Tim the Frontline wagons getting in some great play time as it's being defended and agree with you Carlos he does a great job adding and building the small details featured in his photo dioramas. Mike you'll have a very very long wait before and if ever Tim gets tired of the barn......The Lt.
