Doesn't Conte and TSSD have some plastic, which is pretty detailed. Who makes most of the stuff you are using. I don't recognize it. Firebat

I Have a very wide range of figures. Marx , Matchbox, Fov , 21st century, Atlantic, Italerie. some conte plastic to name a few. I even have some chinese knockoffs that I like so if its a soldier I collect it.

Charlie I love your dioramas, I think if you had some of the painted metal sets you could do some incredible stuff! but would you still dare to bring them out in the dirt???:p
The new conte plastics are some really great looking figures and paint up real nice and are great for chopping up and converting to various new poses and are great if you want some quality looking figures but can,t shell out the cash for painted metal.

I Do Have some conte plastic Figures and a few Britians Metal figures. I never much liked metal figures much maybe it is because I grew up with plastic. I will have to take a closer look at the metal figures what brand do you suggest I start with? Wooden Warriors is a fun toy army on a budget That is one reason I make a lot of my own stuff plus it is fun to create items out of nothing. Thanks again for your input.

I,m sure if you ask the question of suggesting a brand of metal figures on this forum everyone will tell you K&C!!! because there are a bunch of K&C collectors on this site and they do make some of the best metal figures out there today but the scale of the figures are larger then 1/32, they are 1/30 scale. I would suggest buying what YOU like and what catches YOUR eye.

Being on a budget I would suggest shopping around ebay and toy soldier shows for used and discontined sets that you can get a good deal on, a lot of good sets fly under the radar on ebay and can be had for cheap if you search daily and keep your eyes out. The K&C stuff is hard to get any kind of price break on and the older sets sell for more then the new ones so maybe something like britains, frontline ect. in the 1/32 scale might be better for you as you can find these sets munch cheaper. And then theres always painting and converting your own plastic figures or metal casting if your good with a paint brush.
Most plastic sets only have limited poses and they end up looking like the attack of the clones so I like to chop my plastics up and make my own poses and its great fun and you can come up with many new poses from a few stock poses. Then just paint them up the best you can and save yourself some money, thats what I did when I started collecting again because I couldn,t afford painted metal at the time either.
I posted a how to guide with photos on this forum if you ever want to give it a try and I also posted many photos of conte G.I.s that I chopped up into new poses if you want to see what i,m talking about with all the new poses you can get out of a few stock factory poses.

Charlie, do you have closeups of the wood tanks you have made. I used to make mine out of cardboard and construction paper. Still have some of my early paper soldiers....Any how tos would be appreciated...Michael

Hi Michael
If you go to my web site I do have close ups of some of them. The Link is at the bottom of this post. I need to put more on when I get time. I think the japanese medium tank, the italian medium, and a kv1 russian are posted there. As far as how tos It would be a pretty long tutorial . Basically we find a picture or a line drawing for scale and start cutting up wood. There are a lot of tools involved and a lot of time. Would like to see pics of the ones you did with cardboard. I use cardboard a lot in producing accessories for my little army.
Any how if you go to my site there are some there. It is a fun site and say hello to me in the blog i use as a guest book.
Thanks
Have Fun
Charlie

Another fine diorama scense from panda1gen.

I love how you make the maximum use of your dioramas by introducing variations on the theme.

Thanks for sharing,

Carlos

Eddy (Bricoleur) asked me to post these photos. Eddy said that the setup took no more than ten minutes: white styroform, some trees and a few sets buildings. Nor colours, neither details were manipulated. Just natural light at different times.
