How many guarenteed purchase requests do you think it would take to put a retired figure back into production again?

Surely if K&C had a 100% intent to purchase or the money in advance to say produce 100, 500, 1000 or even way more of a certain figure etc could that ever happen?

I want to start a campaign to bring back BR040!!! ^&grin

Apparently according to some, the Brits were Nazi's so he's in the wrong uniform isn't he?!:wink2:^&grin

Seriously though, although it may not be brought out of retirement , a new version of the same figure may be made in the future?

Rob

If you're looking for that exact figure, the likelihood is low. Moreover, historical US ranges (19th Century and before) don't seem to be on the top of K & C's hit list.

Instead of trying to garner support that may or may not be forthcoming why not PM Andy and see what the lay of the land is in doing a special job. If you are wanting a substantial amount of figures set the figure and give it a go. You cannot be in any worse of a position than you are now.

As for bringing out figures from retirement I am not really a fan of that idea. It seems like a move back rather than a step forward especially, if your trying to keep a hobby vibrant and interesting for customers in difficult economic times and, with lots of competition
PS... Now I am with you Rob..... Nazi's indeed!!!!LOL

Well, I would very happy to see many of the Retired Sets given a second go-around, ^&grin^&grin like BR40, Hessians, AR Militia and such.

But I am afraid, as Jazzeum mentioned, we (AWI folks) never seem to be in the K&C sweet spot.
Rather than try to kick a dead horse (or at least unconscious) I would like to see some fresh and different figures.

How about casualities? Come on,Andy, I don't want to have to go to FL to get wounded and downed figures.
How about some sitting and resting figures or some of the other poses that you see in the JJ Designs (in the St Francis) for example.

In any case sign me up for a commited amount if K&C every wanted to pull the mold out of the closet and do a special run of some sets.

I can only think of two instances where figs were brought out of retirement. The original Arnhem series was redone in a 2nd ed. with new paint job, and the desert Panzer II had a rebirth recently.

The Panzer II was more of a drop the awful italian figures with the german tank than a bringing back from disco as such. I think it was always a mistake to release this with italians and would probably have been a bigger seller had they been three fighting AK figures

Agree with Mitch. Putting the 3 Italians with the Pzr II was not a good idea. It did put off some buyers who only wanted the tank but no interest in the figures. However it had to be one of the best value sets if you did like the Italians.

Brett
PS I think the chances for an old figure being re-done are not likely.

I think it would be a bit of a business disaster for a maker to do this. Does anyone else do this or have done?? I am not sure
I know Figarti have on their sets series 1 etc which, could mean that a return may be possible but, I think when they are gone they should be gone
