Britains ACW 6 horse Team Caisson Picture (1 Viewer)

The Horse teams (Union/Confederate) originally retailed at 290 according to my records.

The Union Wagon set retailed at 220.

Hi Tom,

I must take issue with your records. I have my original invoices for the two sets in question, and I received no discount when I purchased them. According to my invoices, the retail prices were:

Set #BR17379 - Union 6 Horse Artillery set - Retail: $219.00

Set #BR17433 - Confederate 6 Horse Caisson set - Retail: $219.00

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

The Original Retail Price on both sets was $ 295.00 . I still have a couple of the Confederate sets available (brand new in the original boxes) if anyone is interested. If so - please e-mail me at scmb@earthlink.net

I am pretty sure the 6-horse limber set was about $230-$250 new (I am thinking $229). I should remember pretty well because I have 2 sets. I had one set fall out of a display case and get damaged some (mostly the chains breaking). I loved it so much that I ordered another while it was still barely available. You could find these sets for a couple of years, but I rarely see them on Ebay. I am definitely interested in selling the damaged set if anyone is interested in buying (just PM me). Most of the key items are in great shape (the wheels are a little wobbly but display pretty well and could be repaired).

I have a lot of great Civil War sets, but if I could only keep one it would be this one.

I think that I paid 275.00 for my Union set.

Gentle Friends,

:D:D:D Well, that settles the issue. The original price was somewhere between $219 and $295! :p

Warmest personal regards,

Pat ;)

That is quite the gap in pricing!!However in this instance I believe there are two prices here MSRP @ $295.00 and then what the individual paid for the item. I think this was at the time with RC2 when everyman and his dog were buying product and then offering some deep discounts.

Somebody got some great discounts at 219 if the set originally retailed for 295.

I am pretty sure the typical asking price was around $220-230. I would never have considered a $300 set at the time. I first saw it in a shop in Gettysburg when the item was first released.

I agree about the standing horses. I wish they would make some more limber sets with the lid open. I feel my battery is incomplete without them. Although it will cost a pretty penny to do it right, 4 to 6 guns, limbers, caisson, horses, crews- when you calculate the cost its no wonder i'm not driving a jaguar.

I think it would be nice to be able to purchase them in sets of two. They would then be able to connect to each other, so that multiples could be purchased when and if funds allowed.

A set like these would be ideal :)

Hi Scott,

Using the Way Back Machine, I checked several retail toy soldier dealers' listings for 2003. I found quite a wide variation of prices for these sets ranging from $219.00 to $275.00. Based on what I have seen, the $295.00 price might well have been the MSRP with various dealers providing generous discounts.

I guess I was lucky and purchased my sets at the lowest price I found.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Hi Tom,

You are always welcome to go shopping with me. However, given what I know about your prowess as a toy soldier shopper, I should be asking to go shopping with you! :D

Warmest personal regards,

Pat ;)

It would be an awesome display though.
