I have been looking at soldiers produced by Tradition of London, and was wondering if anyone has bought Tradition figures and mixed them with Britains? Supposedly, both manufactures produce figures in gloss and 54 mm. Here are some of the photos of Tradition sets I have seen on the internet.

No, the most recent ones have been Fusilier. However, he is going to be painting a pack camel for me and some other Tradition figures for someone else.

Do you know how the Tradition figures compare to the new Britains?

A few years ago I picked up a box of 30 Tradition Confederates in a semi matte/gloss from a dealer wanting a quick sale. At first I thought he had done an extremely good professional re-paint job on them. However, researching Tradition output revealed that they did indeed issue Rebs and Yanks in this semi matte finish and may have done other eras but I cant be sure on that.

Anyway in comparison- the majority of the figure poses are a "little stiff" and are just a tad smaller than Britain's gloss sets but not so much that you would notice when put side by side. But amongst the usual firing line/loading/kneeling there are a couple of really well done and unusual poses-the flag bearer, a sergeant and an infantry colonel in particular are my favourites. As with all Traditions though the bases are far too small and lightweight for the figures and easily knocked over. So beware! for easy breakages

As Brad has said, the figures that I have been painting come from the Fusilier Miniatures range and I will be painting some Tradition figures for some of the forum members. Having said that I don't actually have any Britains figures to compare them with. All I can say is that I have painted many sets of Tradition figures over the years and I like them alot. Uk Reb is correct about the figure poses and size of the bases, but they are very nicely detailed castings, as you will see next week.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the information guys. It does help allot. I would stick soley with Britains, but some of the other manufacturers offer varied poses which sometimes are needed to round out a scene.

Hello, all!

I've found that figures from Britain's new Redcoat series are more or less a match in scale with Tradition's Seven-Years-War/French-and-Indian War British and French infantry figures. The Tradition castings are a tad more robust than the Britain's, but the Britain's fit right in with the Traditions, Valiants, Prince August, Staddens, Roses and Imrie-Risley figures that I have.

Thanks!

I have also mixed some Britains Premier with WWI Tradition;)
