We just received the pricing for two of the new Britains sets. They are both $135:

They can both be pre-ordered now.

WOW!

Sorry Shannon, that wasn't meant for you.

But the price of this hobby has increased first 1/30 and now 1/32.

Wow, These aren't limited editions are they or did the market really expand on us while we weren't looking and they're more collectors with $$$$ stuffed in their pockets chasing a shortage of toy soldiers.

Wow,

Carlos

Well, this is not unexpected, by me anyway:rolleyes: . I understand that when one company purchases another, someone has to pay the purchase cost to either replace the cash used for the purchase and/or the debt incurred for the purchase.

What is disappointing is the point that Carlos has made, these are not special or limited editions and if this is the "normal" pricing for future releases, ouch.

With many of their earlier versions being blown out for 30 bucks ,I can understand the sticker shock. I must admit, they do look much improved. Maybe, someone ,who has Britains original armor car ,can comment on their similarities or differences...Michael

Gees, suddenly KC doesn't looks so expensive. Maybe, we ought to give Britains a break and take a look at them in person to see if the quality of the sculpts equal to or better than KC’s.

I’m sorry guys, I’m just blown away at the prices, I mean the Stalingrad releases wore expensive but the quality wasn’t there (e.g. overpaint in the inside of the brim of the helmet), maybe this release is a quantum leap over them and equal to KC. If they are, and they sell at those prices, then guys watch out for Andy to increase is prices.

BTW, does anyone know how well the Britains Stalingrad release sold?

I guess I’m just rambling. I’ll be visiting Old Toy Soldier Home (San Diego) Monday and I’ll check them out then.

Again, sorry for rant,

Carlos

yeah i agree they do seem a little on the expensive side,$25 or so more than a k and c tank.
And as has been pointed out their past ww2 releases sell for about
that price difference on e bay.[$25]
I realise these are of a higher quality but i still would have thought
their price point would have been the same as the competition.

I am not a Britains collector - so just from the pictures some improvement over what I have seen in the past. Not nearly enough to switch from KC or HB WWII particularly at the same price as the HB Panther! The WWI releases are more interesting because there is less competition and they also look decent.

Whats worse is Treefrog usualy has the lowest price! Way too much.... If the prices are in thee realms of K&C midas well buy from the leader! Especially knowing it (K&C) holds its value so well.

I became a Britains dealer about seven months ago because a couple of my customers expressed an interest in the Stalingrad series.

The range sold ok for me at best and I did not think the figures were well done at all and the T34 and Mark IV were average at best; however, the Pak 40 and Horsch command vehicle were well done in my opinion and all four retailed for 130.00.

First Gear brings Ken in to sculpt the figures and Richard to change the direction of the company and the product has improved 100% over the Stalingrad series. I had the chance to see all of the items at the Valley Forge show and they are fantastic, especially the vehicles.

I am confused as to the reaction on the prices; they are basically the same as the Stalingrad vehicles and the quality has improved dramatically. Look at the US armored car vs the previous release; night and day as far as quality. If you want quality, you have to expect to pay for it, or am I missing something here...............

The Britains M8 appears to be a slight improvement on the K & C version except perhaps for the kneeling figure which looks rather strange. I have to agree that the set is overpriced compared to other sets, and is in fact at the level of higher priced artillery sets. If other sets rise in price as is expected I guess it will no longer look out of place price wise.

Initially I wasn't impressed with the destroyed Horst. But I guess if you remove the dead driver it becomes are a drivable battle weary vehicle that could find a place is most collections, but I have to admit I'm not keen on destroyed vehicles or dead soldier figures myself.

I collect both K&C and Britains. Each of their amoured cars are great. The Britains is however very plain when compared to the accessories on the K&C version. The newer Britains looks like they took the K&C version and made improvements to their original based on the K&C. I look forward to seeing one, perhaps at Chicago. That will help me make a buying decision. The Styer is another story, I want one.

George, I agree. The ACW figures done by Ken Osen are top notch in every way and there is no comparison to the troops released previously.I always found it rather odd when I started collecting metals less than 4 years ago. Some of the Napoleonics, ACW etc were splendid, the latter ones, well I passed.
The M8 looks splendid as do the other vehicles, guns and figures.I'll be adding them to my collections.

Is the "dead" driver removable?

Hi N-P - Sorry for the slow reply.

I talked to Richard Walker today, and he assured me that the figure will be removable. He said Britains will nearly always make the figures removable.

Err, Umm.Aren't we kinda stepping on your forum providers toes maybe a wee bit?
Just an observation.I realize we all want to find the best deal possible, but I think we owe the owners of this site and their business a little more consideration.Maybe I'm missing something. If so,I am prepared to have my head handed back to me.

Well, I can't say that I agree with you although I do understand your point of view. This thread was about Britains WWII Prices and that is exactly what I was commenting on. While I do appreciate Treefrog's forum efforts, I do not think we should be censoring what appears on this forum. I have noticed that this forum has a number of dealers on it and one could make the case that some of their posts are self promoting. I also have no problem with that. Finally, I know a Britains dealer who will sell me Britains at his cost. That one I will keep to myself!

Wasn't sure if you were asking another member if they received this offer or if you were asking me to match it. Assuming you were asking me to match it the answer would be sorry, but no. I feel those prices devalue the products. I am excited about the new Britains offerings and would not want to do them the disservice of clearing their new items before they are even released.
I have some great bargains on my website of certain retired pieces I received at an excellent price and I am happy to pass the savings on to my customers but these prices on items not even yet released mock the company.
Guess ya'll will have to settle for 1st rate customer service with a smile and second best prices all around at Treefrog.:p
Mama always said if you can't say anything nice....so I'll stop here.:D
