The museum collection Black Watch figure is attired more for the earlier Egypt/Sudan campaigns in the early to mid 1880's. Also the regiment did not participate in the reconquest of Sudan during the late 1890's and was not present at Khartoum/Omdurman.

Yup, there were gatling guns used during the Zulu War, but they were manned by the Royal Artillery and Naval Brigade. The gatling gun was used at the the fight at the Ineyzane manned by the Naval Brigade and the gatlings were manned by the 10/7 Battery,Royal Artillery at Ulundi. I am looking forward to seeing a new set from Britains...in Matte.
I cannot find any good references about the tunics worn during the 1885 campaign to relieve Gordon. My understanding is that it was at the Battle of Tamai that the British army wore red tunics for teh last time in action. I also think that some of the units had a faded blue type tunic. During teh Omdurman campaign they all wore Kakhi as during the Boer War a year later.
