British Army Air Corps Miltary Band (2 Viewers)

Just to let you know Johnny, I'm posting the band layouts in the history section.

Mentioning brushes try here best price and quality http://www.rosemaryandco.com/

Thanks for both the layout info - and another source of brushes. I had noted the brush site from a tip you gave someone earlier. However, I TRY wherever possible to support my local "Train Spotter" shop - in the fond hope he can struggle on with the Nerds!! "Use it - or lose it!" are my watchwords here.:(

However, I note that Rosemary's, do mail order - so if ever I get down to shaving a six inch brush, once again - whilst trying to paint a moustache on some Hairy Mary - I'll give 'em a try! :salute:: Cheers, jb

My order for six more castings from RP World Models arrived last Thursday. Bob was very receptive to the idea of me modifying one of the figures to make up a Drum Major - and kindly found some arms - one with a Mace - to help me out. The figure on the far left of my six - in various states of painting - is shown below.

I made a baldrick for him from rolled out milliput, which was left to dry out for a couple of days, after positioning on the figure. I also wrapped his Mace with some thin wire - as it was a plain shaft originally. You can perhaps see what I was trying to reproduce from my second excellent picture below. ( I need to give him a moustache!).

The other instruments are meant to increase my band to roughly the same size as the real band. The front rank will have 5 trombones, when complete, just as the real thing - though as I like side drummers - I've increased MY band - to have a complete rank of percussionists - with three side drums. I'll let these dry for a while - before fitting the remaining arms and instruments - and begin painting the side drum in the meantime. jb

And here they are, now completed. I added in a previously completed drummer - to check that the detail was the same on each drum. Note the Drum Major - which was put together from a number of parts - and some milliput work - to make up his baldrick. I've moved them around a bit in some pics below, so that you can check out some of the details. jb
