Konrad (kogu) has commissioned me to paint another set of figures for him on a How-To basis. To even up the sides of his French Indian War collection this is going to be another artillery set but this time depicting the British Artillery of the 1750’s. These are again made by Tradition of London.

As before, these are the castings, each comes in it’s own bag with a colour photo of the finished figure as supplied by Tradition. The photo of the completed set is from their website.

Jeff:

Looks like another great project -- I can't wait to see the progress. Thanks again for sharing your work with us.

Dick

P.S. -- Are you sure you don't want to move to this side of the Atlantic?

Konrad

Congratulations on your new commission. You will certainly have a very special and outstanding collection of the French & Indian War. We are all looking forward to your picture posts of your French artillery set when it arrives. You and Jeff are certainly giving all of us FIW collectors a real treat:)

Dick,

Thanks.....hope to start assembling over the weekend, I've got another painting project on at the moment - my daughters bedroom!

Jeff

P.S.....I'm only a postage stamp away ;)

It is another great set from Tradition, and I'm looking forward to seeing your finished job.

I have this set on my wish list, but I'm going to get an extra gunner and convert him to one holding the portfire. There isn't one currently in the set. You always read that the British commisariat in the 18th century was particularly inept, but to send a gun crew into the field with powder and shot but no match....

Please post your SBS, Jeff!

Prosit!
Brad

Hi Jeff,
very happy to see the castings have arrived and the way they look. I like all poses.
This set will make a great counterpart for the French Artillery that as of now is deployed to this side of the ocean.
Can't wait to put them in service.
It is going to be great fun again to watch those castings come alive step by step, but take care of the "important" stuff first, your daughter's room.
Don't want to get you in trouble at home ;).

Jeff are you done these yet ? :D:D:D:D

J/K Looking forward, as everyone else is, at seeing you bring these figures to life with your creative talents.

Konrad,

I assembled the figures today…..these have more equipment than their French counterparts, slung muskets for example. I am very impressed with the level of detail on the castings and this will make the painting a lot easier.

As usual I gave the assembled castings a few light coats of grey primer, give it a few days for the undercoat to thoroughly dry before I start painting.

Those castings look very sharp. Looks like another fine set on the way.

Simon,

I agree, they have to be some of the crispest castings around at the moment, they have improved alot over the years.

I stand corrected on the question of a gunner with no match. I looked closely at the package for the sergeant, and the description reads, "Sergeant with linstock". I couldn't tell from Tradition's paint job, because they painted the whole head silver, and it looks like a spontoon. But I can see from Jeff's picture of the casting, that the matchcord is cast into the head of the linstock. So, a good painter can pick it out and make it look better.

Gonna have to get me this set....

Prosit!

Hi Jeff,
these British are some fine castings, very detailed and the slung muskets are a nice accessory. Looking very much forward to see the primed figures receiving their first paints.
Today I received the French Artillery and what can I say?
They exceeded my expectations. I was anyway very happy with the quality photos you made of them during process but today, eye to eye, they look even better.
Thank you very much again for a great job and now it will be much harder to wait for the British Set in the works here ;).
But no rush, please.

Konrad,

I'm glad you received the French set ok, that was quite quick, I only posted them last Thursday (1st) :) The latest Tradition sets are some of the best castings I have seen them make in recent years and the grey primer really brings out the detail. I will crack on with the painting asap.

Regards

Jeff

They are that. I was noticing the detail and admiring the high level of add ons.

Nope! I haven't started painting yet, just finished my daughters bedroom, so will be painting soldiers again at the weekend.

Plus I've run out of Green paint so will have to beg Simon (Wraith) for some....:D

Jeff

The only green that was still available, was a flurescent lime green paint. I'll get some in the post to you ;).

Jeff - -

Have been waiting to see the next step in painting these figures. Is it coming soon? Thanks.

Dick

P.S. -- if it's antyhing like the French Artillery -- I guess it's worth waiting for.
