This thread is a follow on from my previous one showing the British Nile River Gun Boat I purchased at the London show at the end of March.

Whilst at the show I admired the Gun Boat on the WBritains stand displayed in a river setting being shadowed by a group of Mahdists on the riverbank. I wanted something similar for mine.

A bespoke display case was going to be required and I approached Tracy and Steve of Picturebox Display Cabinets who happened to be at the show and the results are shown here.

John Gittins of JG Miniatures was next on the list to contact for a River terrain mat who also supplied the Palm tree and other scenic items in the display.

Lynn Kenwood of MKL Models supplied the other WBritains figures as well as the Gun Boat itself.

As they say a picture speaks a thousand words so all I will say is the quality of workmanship on all the items you see is top notch and I am extremely pleased with the way this display has turned out.

Thanks again to all involved. :smile2:

Really done this expensive item just reward Jeff, no better way to display. Fascinated with the water effect. A talking point no doubt with visitors. Mine now looks rather lame sitting in the open box it came in, but cannot have everything, just happy to have one. Cheers, Robin.

That's very nice indeed. The quality of the whole is brilliant. You must be very proud.

Thanks for sharing

Great pick-up Jeff. I know a bloke in Oz that has been drooling over one of these for quite a while now! So much so that the shopkeeper who has it for sale had to place barriers around the display cabinet to keep the poor bugger away from it... ^&grin I am pulling your leg on the last bit tho... :rolleyes2::wink2:

Im a little curious, but is the clear cabinet hood made out of acrylic? The reason why i ask is, i have a couple myself and they work a treat. I got mine made locally and they also have D handles at the top so it's easy to lift the hood off the display. The hoods were a little pricey to get made but i am happy with them.

That's a fantastic display, well thought out. I love that glass case too. Congrats.

Very well done. Congratulations, a piece to admire for a longtime to come.

An absolutely brilliant display!! It looks great and was certainly worth the time and effort!

Jeff,

Congratulations on this entire set up. It looks beautiful. The custom made JG water mat was a great idea!! I appreciate you sharing the pics with us.

Thank you all so much for the feedback I really appreciate your comments. :smile2:

Just to clarify, the case is Acrylic, which sits over a rebated veneered base.

The whole case/base sits on top of one of my display cabinets, which houses the rest of the WB WAN collection and will be a candidate for a future thread.

The River Mat is a masterpiece of design (which can be rolled up) John had a template of the boat and as you can see the boats sits into the river and the wave/ripple effect is superb imho which sets the boat off so well.

I felt that I just had to do the WBritains Gunboat justice and go the whole hog (as they say) All in all the separate parts to this display compliment each other and is certainly the centrepiece of my collection.

Many thanks again. :smile2:
