Build-A-Rama Building Prototypes (2 Viewers)

Awesome stuff from Build-A-Rama. I can't wait to get some.

On a side note I was curious as to what vehicle this is and who makes it:

Very nice Winter camo nets those. The model in the pic is a German "Grille" Self Propelled Gun (BBG001) made by King & Country and is from their Battle of the Bulge range. This set has since been retired but I'd say a few dealers may have them in stock still. It has the earlier less detailed track setup but is still worth getting, well I have one anyway :)

Hi there and thanks for the info. I just looked at KC website and I am VERY impressed with the quality of those figs. WOW!!! Do you know if all of those are 1:32 size? Is thier quality consistent with their ad pics? Also are their vehicles diecast at all or just plastic. It looks as though the tracks do not move.

Thanks again for the help.

The majority of their WWII figures are 1/30 scale, being about 65 mm high, but the figures that go into the vehicles are sometimes slightly smaller. However most of their other ranges are in 1/32 scale.

The ad pics are most often production items except for very rare occasions when they are pre-productions, so what you see is usually what you get.

Most of their vehicles especially the tanks are made from polystone which is a resin and calcium carbonate (marble dust) compound that is rather heavy. However some models are metal (motor bikes) and some also have resin or plastic parts. The tracks do not move as they are static models for adult collectors, but some members here are more "mature" than others ;)

King & Country are made in Hong Kong and the main K & C website originates from there as well. However Treefrog Treasures are a US dealer and their website can be accessed via the link at the top of each page, prices in their SHOP are the same as on the dedicated K & C site.

POLYSTONE? Wow! That would make those tanks pretty heavy. Dang this collecting habit. I really didn't want to start spending more than the FOV range but that makes these things kinda worth it.

You sound like you know a lot about this stuff so I figure you have quite a collection. Which manufacturer do prefer to buy from? Do you have any pics of your collection that you would care to post?

Thanks again for all of your help,

K & C tanks are certainly heavier than the FOV tanks but the extra weight gives the K & C tanks more bang for your buck :)

The FOV vehicles are certainly cheaper than K & C versions. However K & C vehicle sets include several well detailed metal figures which if available separately would cost at least $25 each. Imo this makes the K & C vehicle sets better value, even if you don't include any "investment" considerations, which I don't ;)

I have been collecting military models for over 30 years but have only collected K & C in recent years. I sell off models I no longer want at hobby fairs etc to help finance new interests such as K & C. Therefore the size of my collection hasn't grown much over the years, but it's always evolving. I'm not into cameras but will post some pics in due course.

So the KC figs are metal?!! I didn't know that. I like it. Yet one more reason to get into these. I suppose your logic about the investment of KC products is correct. I'm thinking about making my first KC purchase the Hummel since they say they're going to retire it this month. I figure afterwards the price will skyrocket. But I do really like the Gepard Flakpanzer....oh decisions.;)

I'm looking forward to some pics of your collection. Sorry about bugging you so much but I'm just pretty hungry for some info on this stuff since I'm so new to it and it seems to be hard to come by.

Thanks again.
