I have been in the past a great bush walker. I still love to get out and about but time and family limit this. My kids are bigger now so more time to do one of my other hobbies. A couple of pictures of a walk I went on today in Brisbane. Chris.

Looks nice Simmo, did you take your spray cans mate...............^&grin

That's 100% abbo painting at it's best. Forty thousands years these blokes have been in this country. Still paint the same thow. Chris.

I read Jarrad Diamond's book, Guns, Germs, and Steel. The Australian locals got there pretty late as human time goes and were just getting started with agriculture of sorts when the English showed up.

How can you go for a beautiful walk and not get a single picture of a huge croc, a killer roo, or a shrimp (prawn) on the barbie? Next time, I guess.:wink2:^&grin -- Al

Simmo, Thank you for the pics ... Real enticing country side.

May I ask ... How far do you get to go on a typical walk, and for how long ?

In Hawaii, we have petroglyphs, rock drawings. However, if they're accessable to the public, they get vandalized. It seems your rock drawings were not vandalized for the most part. I'm glad they respect these works of art.

This walk was only 2km long. A very short walk but it was hot and up hill. The one before was 14km and it was up and down hill and took my family 4 hours. My wife had a hell of a time with it and won't come on any more walks with me. That was 6 months ago and still reminds me how stupid it was. Chris.

To south for croc's and kangaroo's are no problem. I am more concerned about snakes. If bitten you won't make it back to your car. Chris.

Just a short note to say I came across a snake and didn't get close enough to see what kind. And found Three leaches on my legs but no scrub ticks. A very easy level one walk. Chris.

Another day in the bush. This was a 16km grade 4 walk that took me 3.5 hours. A very hot day it turned out to be. Saw lots of parrot's and finches plus a couple of big lizards . The D'Aguilar range is at my door step and heaps of places to visit. Chris.

Hi Chris

Wow 3.5hrs, seems you had a 'busy' Sunday again .. thanks for the pics. Real lovely environment.

If I may ask .. the trails/tracks depicted in your pics # 2, 4 and 6 seem 'cleaned' of vegetation.
Are these park maintained trails/paths or their natural well trodden state ?

Reason I ask .. some of the Malaysian (equatorial) trails/tracks that we have over here are, up to the neck with foilage. Can't see a snake until you stepped on one.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks mate this trail was made by loggers 50 years ago and is maintained by the parks and wildlife service and kept clean at all times. You can ride horse's here as well .Most walking trails I go on are not nearly as good as this one was. Chris.

Nice one Simmo. I like walking trails as well and i love riding my mountain bike on them. The walking trails up in the hills above Hong Kong are awesome. I can chuck a few pic's on this thread if you like? There are some nice one's around Darwin as well.

Tom
