Just watched this movie.
AD 117 the 9th Legion is sent into Scotland and then pretty much non stop action.
Lots of throat cutting, decapitations and close up blood and gore (think 300). One of the nastiest double crosses by one of the apparent good guys against another.
Good scenery and aerial shots.
I recommend it.
I did not see the start of it but when I went in I saw a new Johnnie Walker ad featuring Robert Carlisle walking in the Scottish highkands and talking about the history of the whiskey. It is without doubt the longest ad I have ever seen in a cinema.
Regards
Brett

Thanks for the intel Brett, I have heard this is a good one, looking forward to seeing it...........

"Johnnie Walker ad "

That was fun. Does he ever throw the ONE RING into Mount Doom?

Yes. I put it in my queue but it's a future release, "unknown", along with the almost 30 films they advertise but don't have.

Ah you mean release date unknown. Yes their list of those is rather long actually. I think I have that many in my queue.:(

I don't believe this movie has reached the states yet.Blockbuster doesn't have it either.

Thanks for the tip, as others have pointed out, Netflix has it listed with a release date of unknown, which with the means away from a week to never................

I broke down and rented this ($9.99) but I thought it was worth it as I liked it.

Saw the movie yesterday, and I did like the scenario and the Roman legionaries’ Clothing & Armour but the end is very weird....

Where did you rent it Mark? Of course, $9.99 seems steep; I buy most of my Blu-rays at that price or less.

Just watched it and loved it. I'm a big fan of the director. He has done "Dog Soldiers" great werewolf movie, "The Decent" Really scary, "Doomsday" OK popcorn flick, and this. He always has tons of action and really strong and sexy female characters. Niel Marshal is his name.

This comes out here in the states November 2nd on DVD and Blu Ray at Best Buy.

"Dog Soldiers" in my top 10 list of great movies. The dialog alone is worth the price, especially just before the last assault on the farm house.

My problem with most of those style action movies is that they are not much more than a continuous stream of automatic weapons fire. Apparently the elite soldiers in these movies are not conversant with fire discipline and are really poor shots.

Bill,

You are obviously not familiar with the recently published 'Military Encounters with Lycanthropes'.

Chapter 3 goes in to great detail, highlighting the potential difficulties with Werencounters and offers up a number of tactical solutions, one of which it may suprise you is (and I paraphrase here), 'Select F/A and let loose with everything you've got.'

I appreciate that 'Dog Soldiers' has the usual healthy dose of atristic licence spread throughout, but in real life, military studies have shown that Lycanthropes move at great speed, and it is therefore to be expected that a good deal of ammunition will hit everything bar the intended target.

It's good to note that the film acurately captured an extract from Chapter 5, which covers the 'out of ammo' scenario, and suggests a number of readily available items which can effectively be used against lycanthropes, such as the 'hammer to the claws' tactic.

So, pretty close to reality all things considered.
