In my email dispatch for June it states that both versions of the Chaffee Tank are being retired. Is this correct? It seems that these just got released. Were they limited editions or are sales just dismal or did I just miss something?
Don't remember anything being retired that quickly since I have been collecting K&C.

Scary ain't it? Someone mentionrd problems with treads breaking. Though at Sierra none have been noticed. It is a mystery. Sales seem to be doing well. Though a late war prodution tank I like it and will have several of them soon.

It is very scary. Allows for a very small window for picking up all the items you want. I hope this isn't the new trend. I did receive one Chaffee with damaged treads, so it may very well be a problem of this kind for the short run, but thought it was a very nice version.

They sold well but K & C needs the production room for other items.

Hi Brad,

What you say may well be true, but why the Chaffee? Why not something that has been on the market for a much longer time? I cannot help but believe there is a problem with the model or with breakage during shipping. I have ordered one, but not yet received it, so I hope mine arrives intact.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

This is the fastest retirement I can recall, too. Fortunately, I already got my DD version (with no breakage problems). If the real reason for retirement is to make room for newer items, I hope its for more U.S. DD stuff, like maybe a Pershing tank.:D You know... the coolest looking U.S. tank of the war which for some reason no manufacturer has made yet.

I picked up the Winter one and have another DD version waiting for me. I really like this one. I have liked it for a while. Also the Hellcat. Looks very cold!

I must live a charmed life. I have never had a K&C vehicle arrive broken. The only problems I have had is bayonets on Napoleonics. Super glue works great. In fact I have become quite adept at bayonet repair.

I sure am glad I got my Chaffee' when I did. I like the idea of early retirement. I don't collect to make an investment meaning I don't buy multiples (one for me and a couple for eBay). When I collect is nice to know that at least some of them are few in number and that makes them more important for me. That's why I got the custom made HB Tiger.

Fixing bayonets is a fact of toy soldier life.

I was one that received my winter chaffee broken. The treads were in about 6 pieces. Returned it, got new one, no problem. I was informed by my dealer that I was not the only one with the breakage problem.
I will say this other than a plume being broken off, this was the first K&C piece that arrived broken.

Must be different batches. There are replacement pieces ready to go for the ones that are broken. Or so I have been told.

That wouldn't seem to make sense unless you're going to glue them on and frankly I wouldn't be interested in that.

Both Chaffee Tanks I received from Treefrog were in perfect condition ! :)

GOOD JOB - FROGGIE ! :D

I can only think that, as many have said, the early retirement is down to the problems with breakages. There seems to be two main areas of concern on the Chaffees. One is the fragility of the tracks. Does this mean that K&C have found the current limit of polystone track detailing? I don't know, but the tracks are very nicely detailed, and perhaps there's just not enough polystone to support itself. Or perhaps the use of a different quality polystone.

The second, which seems to be more of a quality control issue, is the gun barrel. I'm aware of quite a few tanks which have arrived with the barrel insecure. This may purely be down to whatever adhesive is used to secure the barrel in to the tank.

The latter is an easy enough fix, the former less so.

I acn only imagine that there ahve been quite a few replacement sets sent to customers, by dealers, which must have a fairly substantial knock on effect for K&C profits. I would guess that it has become not financially viable to keep producing these pieces, with all the labour costs that they entail, when a good chunk of them are going to need replacment, fo no extra income.

That all said, it's one of the best pieces K&C have produced IMHO.

So you don't think it is the Illuminati and Opus Dei ad the Freemasons who are searching for the Holy Grail and protetcting teh Mergovian bloodline that is behind the retirement then?

Ssshhhhh! Just keeping up with the broken track cover story...:D;)

The FREEMASON Temple in Downtown Washington was seen receiving many large boxes from UPS

It is believed that the GRAND MASTER has tighten his control over the supply lines of King & Country and now we shall have to worry where they will strike next. Did you also notice the CRUSADES had retirements too !

Now the HORNBLOWER is the rarest of the general release and if you look at the walls outside the ALEXANDRIA, VA - FREEMASON TEMPLE - You will see the "Hornblower" in the stone. All lead up to the direct line that runs from Alexandria, VA - Washington, DC - TEMPLES to Acre in the Middle East.

Interesting.....;)

Just ordered my winter version from Mike at K&C UK.Going to look really good alongside the other Bulge vehicles,as someone said above, must be one of the quickest retirements ever.
