Vive L' Emperior :D

I can't wait:) .........must get three jobs. .....who cares......:D ....at least I haven't weakened over the napoleonics.............yet:eek:

panda - look into my eyes................................you want Napoleonics.............you want Napoleonics...................you must have Napoleonics.........................

Hey Ron,i don't think we ever had to worry about Napoleon. We sent a one eyed, one armed admiral and he STILL kicked Napoleons arse at Trafalgar!

Wellington on land,Nelson at sea poor old Bonafart never stood a chance!

Rob

I was reading Sgt Ewarts description of his charge at Waterloo. What an event in someones life,he must have remembered that for the rest of his days. The description of how he grabbed the French standard and killed three frenchmen who tried to stop him was enthralling. They carried those bloody great sabres (he was an excellant swordsman by all accounts)and he describes how he cut down onto the head of one of the french and cut another "up through the teeth"!.My god the wounds must have been horrendous.

It is also fascinating to read of the destruction of the imperial guard and the final rout of the French army.It must have taken great bravery and discipline in the British ranks to stand and watch them moving toward you.But the British army was built on dicipline and thank god it was!.

I have visited Waterloo and it is great to see it first hand.I now intend to visit Edingburgh where they have the standard Ewart captured and his sword.

Hooray for Wellington i say!

Rob

Come on Kevin weaken!,come join us as we charge at Napoleons men slashing to the left and right, lopping off heads arms and capturing French standards.

Sorry got carried away there!.Have just been reading about Sgt Ewart capturing the French Eagle at Waterloo.Great stuff

Rob

There you go now your reading the good stuff, nothing like the gory bloody first hand war stories from the great age of the muskets where its one shot and then you had to put down your man face to face. I love these stories where they tell you how it went down with all the bloody detail, it gives you a real feel for the horror and excitment of what the battle of that age was like.
If you like the ewart story you read buy yourself a copy of The Exploits of Baron De Marbot its full of these kinds of battle feild stories and you might come away with munch more respect for the french army of the time also.
You,ll get a real feel of what it was like to be on campaign in the napoleonic wars.
You,ll also get many discriptions of horendous wounds like in the ewart story, you,ll love it.

Hey Tim,sounds like a good read.I am always fascinated by the way these accounts are so cool sounding about some of the most violent traumatic things you can imagine.Sgt Ewart calmly described cutting someone here slashing someone there, someone throwing a lance at him.My god today he'd probably be seeking compensation for post traumatic stress!

There was another one it may have been private Hook (but i could be wrong)at Rorkes Drift describing how he got up on the roof of the hospital and was fighting off Zulus with the butt of his rifle. He described it in much the same way as i would about doing the weekly shop!.No wonder these people win VC's,their courage under fire is amazing.

I also did not mean to show disrespect for the french soldiers, they fought bravely and suffered terribly. Its just i am proud of my countrys military history(for the most part!)and i do get a little carried away sometimes,no offence meant.

Like a good read then i suggest Hell Riders by Terry Brighton. Got my copy from RED DOT Books online only £10 compared to the normal £20.

The book is based around the witness reports and reads more like a report rather than a book but i have read it three times now (loads of flying this year so far!!) and now has scribbles all over for model ideas.

there is one desription in the charge where a 17th says that a charged shot hits the ground in front of him and bounces into the chest of his charge. it enters the chest and then explodes, the horse (obviously hits the ground and when the 17th trys to stand he see's his right ankle had also been blown in the explosion. Check this out the guy then trys and gets onto another charge to get back in to the action but the pain is too much.

Another account a private is hit in the leg and arm by musket shot and then asks calmly to his commanding officer what to do. He is told calmly to retire to the back of teh charge.......not get out of it!

This is the back qoute of hell riders.....

'My horse was shot dead, riddled with bullets.
One bullet struck me in the forehead, another passed through the top of my shoulder. While struggling out from under my dead horse a Cossack standing over me stabbed me with his lance once in the neck near the jugular, again above teh collar bone, several times in the back, once under teh short rib; and when, having regained my feet, i was trying to draw my sword, he sent his lance through the palm of my hand. I beleive he would have succeeded in killing me, clumsy as he was, if i had anot blinded him for a moment with a handful of sand.

Now i dont know about you but i would have given up at the bullet hitting me in the head!!!!:)

Amazing read and if you want a good idea of the potential Strictly Limiteds we are going to do then this is my bible for ideas!

Guys

Shannon and Pete have kindly invited me to use this forum to promote the K&C UK Exclusive.

Please note that due to a lot of the costs involved we are not able to offer a major trade discount to fellow K&C dealers. This along with a strong £ and a weak $ also means that the price the USA dealers (not sure on rest of the world) have to put the price point of the Crimean range out at will be higher than that available from K&C UK.
Mind makes a change for the UK customers to get a better deal than the USA guys!
Now as much as the Crimean is an EXclusive to us we have not set out to only sell it from ourselves, we have been forced more by the costing process.
But i guess it does make it for a real Exclusive.

Until the end of FEB 2007 we are offering anybody that orders the complete opening range of the Crimean will get free shipping and a free crimean launch polo. To help with the confusion this is free shipping ANYWHERE in the world.

However if you go on and order via the website we cannot stop the system taking payment now.

I suggest you REGISTER with our site. You will then get a membership number from me. Once you have done the registration and received an e-mail from me with your membership number you will see the price to your door. This will be in £GBP. However do not BUY (unless your happy for payment to be taken) at this point.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR YOUR PREORDER TO GET THE OFFER.

You can e-mail your order to me direct tony@kingandcountry.co.uk or via the sales contact on our website.

You can call your order in +44 (0) 1388 818882 or fax +44(0) 1388 814407

We require shipping details and credit card details at time of order but payment will not be taken until stocks are in a shipped.

Any issues please e-mail me direct or PM me in here. Thanks Shannon for my password to get back on forum!

Hi Tony, think i'm going to have to get me a copy of that, sounds good!

Am really looking forward to the charge. I preordered mine with your dad whilst you were away.If i've got this right it will be all charge until end of 2008?.I think thats good as it will give the charge size and depth.Did i hear that you will have some to look at in London in March?.

I'm not sure if you've been following some of the napoleonic threads as you have been busy, but i am also about to start collecting Napoleonic as well as WW2.So will be buying from two ranges at your tables in March. The wonderful people on this forum finally convinced me!.Although watching Waterloo on the tv every xmas as a kid(for our U.S friends, on British tv every xmas throughout 70's/80's and still today we got Zulu/Great escape/Magn 7 and Waterloo!)i knew one day i'd collect them.

Might not bring the wife to London then, for safetys sake.!

all the best

Rob

Yes the charge will be until at least the end of 2008. The intention is to make the charge scene about 20 figures (mounted and foot) before we look at SL small vignettes. From there we will be going Heavy and Thin!!

Yes i have the painted master here in my office and i will be working on a base to show them off at the London show.

Rob

Rob

Your wife has been on the phone and you have been banned for your own good from all future toy soldier shows GLOBALLY.

****Please note all other show organisers if you see a suspicious man hanging around the doors before the show is set up please call your local police. Not known to be dangeours but can be agressive if not allowed to spend money on K&C. His name is Rob but sometimes trys to go by the name of Mr Neilson, Andy or all in Andy Neilson.*******

If you get past security or one of my lovely female relations on the door (one is my wife so careful what you say!!) then yes you can use it for Early Bird and No you do not have to get anybody to sign you in.

regards

Tony

PS to all show organisers THAT WAS A JOKE!! Rob is a great GUY

Tony, very funny.(funny cos its true!)I should work on my Scots accent.i'm going to show the wife that one, she'll love it!

Cheers mate.

We at Treefrog are planning to pick up some of these figures to make them available - but at this point no pricing has been decided upon. With the conversion rates, they will be quite a bit more pricey than the standard K&C figures.

Originally we planned to carry the Crimean line to help US collectors get them imported into the country with less hassle. Since K&C UK is offering free shipping to anywhere in the world (if you order soon), we feel that you can't get much less hassle than that so there is no reason for us to carry them. It would be more expensive for us as dealers to get them in than for collectors so instead we encourage all who want the Crimean series to strike while the shipping from K&C UK is free and if you miss the deadline then just be sure to pick some up from them at the Chicago show in September.

Good luck to the Nevilles with this beautiful new line.
Best regards,

Shannon
